Life & Work with Yzaiah Jordan

Today we’d like to introduce you to Yzaiah Jordan.

Hi Yzaiah , so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Yzaiah Jordan Artist/producer from Detroit, Michigan. I been making music since I could speak but really got serious when I was around ages 10-11. My earliest influences would be Sade, Jill Scott, Outkast, 50 Cent, Nirvana, 3 6 Mafia, Ice Cube, and Snoop Dogg. The way those people impacted cultures, delivered and made me feel as a child is how I want to make people feel as an artist but also as a producer.

I recorded my first rap tape in 2016 through an iPhone 5 and also shot the videos from an iPhone 5 as well. Before this time, I was only known as producer AQUAMANJORDAN with no face, no one has ever seen my face before my first rap project. I was a YouTube and SoundCloud artist that picked up some hype from overseas radios, artists, and just the audience itself.

My earliest projects go back to 2015, but I’ve been producing since 2008. After hearing 808s and Heartbreaks my whole entire desire for music change and so did my path in life. If it wasn’t music, I didn’t want to do it

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
To make the music is no problem but the business behind it and what it takes to be a successful artist isn’t for everyone. The hardest challenge for me personally would be understanding my audience, but also if they’re understanding me as well.

It takes a lot to be an artist, you need to understand what you’re marketing and how you want it to be perceived as well.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I’m a professional engineer/artist/ and producer. My most successful projects out of my catalog would be “A.L.O.N.E” (Always Living Off New Emotions) the following up E.P behind Songs About Her; I felt like it answered any left-behind questions from songs about her but also the drastic genre changes in between from alternative to soul and then disco pop.

The most successful album out of my entire catalog as a whole would be Purple Garden 350k streams independent, self-produced, and engineered.

What separates me from other artists is my approach and the tone I set. You never know what emotions or energy I’m coming with, and I make my own beats more than half the time because I know my own bpms, tempos, and vocal tones best who knows me better than me.

What was your favorite childhood memory?
My favorite childhood memory is when my dad turned on So Fresh So Clean for the very first time. I felt like the room lit up when that song came on, and he even recorded it on cassette and VCR for me to be able to keep going back to it whenever I want.

3-year-old me knew that’s what I wanted to do for life
