Life & Work with Tracy Noe

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tracy Noe.

Hi Tracy, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I’ve been a special effects make-up artist most of my life. I’ve been a part of local films and haunted houses for years. I have ran the makeup department at multiple haunted houses and the money I made from doing both I saved. I always had a goal to bet on myself and leave some type of Legacy with the money. And when I thought the time was right, I Created Motor City Legacy Horror Convention and Film Festival. Unfortunately, that time was right before covid shutdown everything in our state. So, I had an extra year to prepare for my first show. At the time of writing this with less than two months from our debut, all that extra time was used finding unique and unusual vendors, guests, and films. Having gone to many different Horror Conventions and seeing where they were lacking and do better with the fans in mind. To bring celebrity guests that have not been to our state and introduce films from all over the world so fans can have an opportunity to meet some of the genre’s bests. And have a fun and great time doing it.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Some of the biggest challenges I had was having to learn things I didn’t know enough about. Things like LLC’s marketing, contracts, accounting, social media, insurance, web management, I needed to look at every aspect of a business and learn as much as possible.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I have always been a creative person. Growing up I had a love for horror and sci-fi movies. I also wanted to be a make-up, Artist. I remember walking to the book store once a month as a kid to get fangoria magazines. I would read them over and over to find out how the monsters were made. Then finding every special effects make-up book I could get my hands on. I got involved in Michigan independent film Community doing special effects make-up. Then I was lucky enough to run the make-up department at multiple haunted houses. I ended up going to the make-up school Multi-Media Make-up Academy. I still run the make-up department at Erebus Michigan’s largest haunted house.

What does success mean to you?
My definition of success is simple. To love what you do and be happy doing it. And to do it the right way. By that I mean keep our word. Help people up instead of stepping on them to get ahead. To leave a legacy of being remembered as a good person.
