Today we’d like to introduce you to Todd Weiss.
Hi Todd, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Well, I joined the army at 18 and spent a little over 15 years serving this country. After I got out I dealt with substance abuse issues and alcoholism. I educated myself on what cannabis truly was and use that as my medicine. I’m living proof in 10 years going from 240 pounds to 162 and the only thing that I’ve changed is all the prescription drugs that the veterans administration had put me on I advocate for the use of cannabis for Veterans in the treatment of PTSD, anxiety and depression. I also advocate for anybody that wants to use it medically. Even if you use recreationally, you’re still getting all the medical benefit benefits of it. With me being out there, I put on events to raise money for Veterans. It also has helped me meet celebrities that are in the cannabis, industry and support what I do.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It hasn’t been smooth at all. In the beginning, the Veterans administration labeled me a cannabis abuser because I wouldn’t take their medicines. Actually had a psychiatrist told me a stupid that I didn’t want to take their prescription and then she’s the one that labeled me a cannabis abuser and it’s still in my medical files, but they’ve changed it to cannabis abuser but it’s uncomplicated. Whatever that means.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I don’t really work being a disabled veteran. I make videos from time to time describing what I’m going through. I have Veterans and others reach out to me for help and if I can’t help them, I find someone that can or lead them in the direction that they need to be
Any advice for finding a mentor or networking in general?
When I came into the cannabis community, I didn’t know many people. I met a veteran that owned a business and we became good friends and he mentioned me along the way.
