Life & Work with Sydney Jones of Metro Detroit

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sydney Jones

Hi Sydney, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I am a single woman in my 20s whose world revolves around Jesus. I have always imagined marriage and children as part of my life story, and two years ago, the Lord placed a spotlight on this desire, beginning a journey of teaching me about kingdom marriage-His purpose and design for it. Along this journey, I felt alone. I didn’t have anyone to talk to as I navigated learning curves and different life situations related to this topic. I wished for people around me who were on the same path, with the same mindset. Thus, Fine and Favored was born!

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I can’t say the road has been smooth. In fact, when the Lord originally gave me the idea, I misunderstood what He wanted it to be. The first thing I did was plan an event for single believers in Metro Detroit to meet. Two weeks prior I ended up having to cancel the event due to the male and female ratio being too far off to move forward with the event. This was definitely a set back causing me to take some time and submit the idea back to God. After taking some time to hear from the Lord and receive clarity, I understood that it wasn’t about match making, it was about self development and growing relationship with Him as we prepare for kingdom marriage as individuals.

Aside from this, there was a battle in my mind at times questioning why God chose me for this assignment and to lead a community of this magnitude. I questioned my abilities and my position, wondering “who would listen to a person about preparing for marriage who is not even married themselves?” But the Lord has reassured me that I’m right where I’m supposed to be and doing exactly what he called me to do. He has filled me with His spirit that comes with His strength, wisdom, boldness, and peace that surpasses all understanding.

With our 1 year anniversary recently passing on November 18th, I am happy to say that FineandFavored has impacted a multitude of people is so many ways. Members have received the marriages they were believing for, have found like-minded community and most importantly understand Gods purpose for marriage.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
Fine and Favored is a community of men and women committed to pursuing kingdom marriage. Our mission is to grow the number of kingdom marriages, one individual at a time, through a relationship with God, ourselves, and others. This year’s blueprint focuses on a different aspect of preparation or area of life each month. From health to finances to strengthening relationships, each topic dives into biblical wisdom and creates an action plan for growth and improvement.

We serve a community of people who aspire to live a life pleasing to God and deeply desire a marriage that serves and honors Him in every way. These individuals are intentional about their lives the people they connect with, how they use their gifts, and who they are in Christ. Fine and Favored adds value by creating spaces to build relationships with like-minded individuals, educating and providing accountability to God’s standard through community and products.

The crisis has affected us all in different ways. How has it affected you and any important lessons or epiphanies you can share with us?
That Jesus is King.
He needs to not only be savior but Lord of every persons life.

This is where freedom resides.
