Hi staci, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.

​Our mission is to help the local economy thrive and give people more reasons to visit Shepherd. History
Situated in the heart of Shepherd, Michigan, the building was originally a movie theater which opened in 1950. Named the Laurel Theater, it had a short run and closed in 1955. It was later purchased by Merle Koutz Sr, who had several businesses in it, including an arcade. Later, it was the sight of two different pizza restaurants, Angels and Joey’s Pizza.

Will and Staci Bailey purchased it in 2016 to help keep Shepherd’s economy thrive. Staci already owns a hair salon in Shepherd, Dyenamic Hair Dezigns, and both Staci and her husband are firm believers in supporting local businesses. Both of the Bailey’s graduated from Clare High School and now consider Shepherd their home.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
We have been very blessed by our community, current and past guests.

We do our best to make these relationships with our guests as smooth as possible.
We have built our business by word of mouth and returning guests.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
Staci is a hair designer by trade. Her salon was located a block West of the rental hall for 18 years. In 2023 when she sold that building and moved the salon to back of the rental hall. The decision has been a successful one. She is able to accommodate visitors of the rental hall as well as work in the salon with ease.

Will is currently a heavy equipment operator. Prior he was a fire fighter for 18 years. They both love working with the community making a positive difference in peoples lives.
