Today we’d like to introduce you to Shaunise Williams.
Hi Shaunise, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
My journey actually started in engineering. I attended Western Michigan University, where I earned my bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, and later went on to earn my master’s degree in Engineering Management from Wayne State University. I built my career in engineering, but I’ve always had a love for real estate and everything that comes with it.
Years ago, I learned that real estate is one of the most powerful ways to create generational wealth. At the time, I didn’t know exactly what that would look like for me, but I knew I wanted to learn as much as I could. I explored different avenues, including wholesaling and trying to get into fix-and-flips using hard money loans. I learned from those experiences, but ultimately realized those paths weren’t for me at that moment.
People would constantly tell me, “You would be a great Realtor,” so in 2020, I finally took the real estate course. I was so determined that I told my boss I was going to quit my job, move, and pursue real estate. Shortly after that, I received a raise at work, and I got scared to bet on myself. I chose the comfort and security of the career I had already built.
But my desire to pursue real estate never went away.
A few years later, I decided to give myself another chance. I retook the course, passed my exam, earned my license, and officially began my real estate career in February 2025.
My first year was really about learning the business, gaining experience, building relationships, and figuring out the type of Realtor I wanted to be. Going into Year 2, my focus shifted toward being more intentional—building better systems, becoming more consistent, strengthening my follow-up, and continuing to grow my business. Reaching my cap in my second year was one of those milestones that showed me the progress I was making and what could happen when I stayed committed to the process.
There’s still so much I want to accomplish, and I’m continuing to learn and evolve as both a Realtor and a businesswoman. Looking back, I’m grateful I finally decided to take the chance I was too afraid to take in 2020.
And I truly feel like I’m just getting started.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It hasn’t always been a smooth road. One of my biggest challenges has been learning how to effectively manage my time and actually stick to the schedule I create, especially while balancing real estate with my career and other responsibilities.
Another challenge has been learning the importance of consistent follow-up, even when I’m not seeing immediate results. Real estate has taught me that success doesn’t always happen overnight. Sometimes you can follow up with someone for weeks or even months before that relationship turns into an opportunity. Learning to keep showing up even when the results aren’t immediate has been a big part of my growth.
I’ve realized that consistency, discipline, patience, and time management are just as important as the work itself. It’s about trusting the process, continuing to put in the work, and understanding that every day won’t look perfect.
I’m still learning, still growing, and still building. My journey hasn’t been a straight line, but every challenge—from balancing my engineering career with real estate to learning how to better structure my time and remain consistent—has helped shape me into a stronger professional and a better version of myself.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I’m a Michigan Realtor who works with buyers, sellers, investors, and families relocating to or within Metro Detroit. I especially enjoy working with first-time homebuyers and families who are relocating, helping them navigate the process and feel confident about such an important decision.
I pride myself on being professional, thorough, responsive, dependable, organized, and detail-oriented. Communication is extremely important to me. I want my clients to understand what’s happening throughout the entire transaction, so I take the time to explain the process, answer questions, anticipate potential issues, and make sure the details are handled.
What I’m most proud of is the trust I’ve built with my clients and the growth of my business. Whether it’s handing a first-time buyer their keys, helping a family relocate and find a community that feels like home, successfully selling a property, or helping an investor make a smart decision, being a part of those milestones means a lot to me.
I’m also proud that in my second year in real estate, I reached the milestone of capping with my brokerage. It was confirmation that the consistency, growth, and work I’ve been putting into my business are paying off.
What sets me apart is my engineering and continuous-improvement background. It taught me how to analyze situations, solve problems, pay attention to details, and always look for the best solution. I bring that same mindset into real estate while still making the experience personal.
At the end of the day, I want to be known as a Realtor who does what she says she’s going to do, communicates consistently, advocates for her clients, and genuinely has their best interests at heart. For me, it’s bigger than closing a deal—it’s about building relationships, providing an exceptional experience, and helping people use real estate to create opportunities and build wealth.
Before we let you go, we’ve got to ask if you have any advice for those who are just starting out?
My biggest advice would be: post the content, do it scared, and do it even when you’re unsure if it’s perfect. One thing I wish I understood earlier is that you don’t have to have everything figured out before you start.
Don’t get so caught up in comparing yourself to other people or worrying about what everyone else is doing. Focus on your own journey and stay consistent. There will be times when you’re doing the work, following up, posting, and showing up without seeing immediate results. Keep going anyway.
Also, be willing to ask questions, find mentors, learn from people who are where you want to be, and put yourself in rooms that challenge you to grow. You’re going to make mistakes, but every mistake is an opportunity to learn and get better.
Most importantly, bet on yourself. I wish I had done that sooner. You may never feel 100% ready, so start where you are, keep learning, stay consistent, and give yourself the opportunity to see what you’re capable of.
