Life & Work with SEI of Michigan

Today we’d like to introduce you to SEI.

Hi SEI, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
When it comes to creating music, I grew up in and around music. Growing up I always found myself making noises composed of rhythms and cadences. My grandmother had a piano in the house so I always found myself playing it for the house and just singing all day long till they tell me to stop. I sung in the choir as a child for a brief stint, so music was always extremely prevalent in my early years. But as I got older, I found myself tracking music into a DAW called FL studio and fell in love with it ever since. I eventually taught myself how to record and came up with my own method to create that felt good and genuine to me! Now modeling came to me by the grace of God, I’m extremely thankful to those who saw me and thought that I should be in front of a camera posing. I was used to it already as I was shooting and directing my own music videos & short films, but I never would have thought I would find myself modeling at all. I could say the work got me to where I am today, but I really wouldn’t think it would be possible without the consistency and the people closest to me that kept me confident, kept me heavily involved, and just kept believing in me to keep pushing!

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Nooooooo, it has not been a smooth road at all. Is it ever though? I don’t think I would prefer it any other way; from losing friends, mental health issues, financial struggles, writer’s block, family struggles, those closest to you not believing in you, not feeling confident in what you put out or create. Seeing what you do get copied by others and they try to run away with your swag. Realizing not everyone really has your best interest or the best intentions for you at all, the feeling or realization of being overlooked, realizing the envy in people when they see you prospering and growing to be the best version of me.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I am an all around multi-faceted artist, I make music, model, direct, act, and take pictures. I feel as if I’m most known for modeling but I specialize in MUSIC. I’m extremely proud of myself being able to put out 4 music projects last year alone, that’s 40 songs in total, including 6 visuals and a trailer I wrote and directed myself with the help of my brother Israel! Im more than proud of myself for setting out goals and seeing myself achieve them and bring them to life, such as, acting in my first short film this year! I feel like what separates me or sets me apart from others is my creativity, originality, how I present it to the world, and my versatility. I feel as if I’m very versatile so know one really knows what’s next from me, I feel like I keep people on the edge of their seats or keep them on their toes like a psychological horror movie like what is he going to do next! Im also proud of how Ive grown as a person, how I treat people, how I react to treatment from people, how I clap for others, give congratulations to those that’s deserving till it’s my turn, how I deal with adversity, how much my faith has grown. But I can say I am most proud of how great of a performer I am becoming, from my point of view I am just making sure I remember the music & lyrics but from what I hear and what I feel, the stage presence is unmatched, from the crowd interaction all the way to the energy I bring!

We all have a different way of looking at and defining success. How do you define success?
Success is very subjective to me, personally I define it by how my life is lived. Being the leader of my family, caretaker/breadwinner of my family, getting closer to the creator. Having a positive & immense impact on the world, the youth, the next generation under me even after I am dead & gone. Being able to help others achieve their dreams just as much as mine because mine will get solved and will come true but to help others achieve their ideas is like planting a tree and watching it grow in real time. Success to me is being able to do, go, whatever, whenever I please. Making sure my family is taken care of and they don’t have to complain or ask for anything. That’s how I would define success for myself. Of course leaving financial freedom for my family, etcetera but money comes & goes. I feel like leaving a legacy and something that will live longer than I could is the real success.
