Today we’d like to introduce you to Saundra “Sauny” Edwards.
Hi Saundra “Sauny”, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I initially started my content journey 5 years ago when my daughter told me she wanted to start a Youtube channel. Weeks later I created her channel “Barbee Season” and from there I created a my own channel “Mama Season”. My mother passed away in April of 2022, and it was then that I decided to take my content creation seriously. Mostly because I need some money and I heard it was paying. At the time, I was baking cannabis treats and selling anything I could. Hustling really. IYKYK. My very 1st week of posting consistently, my videos went crazy! It was then, I knew I had a good thing going. I transitioned from comedy skits to promoting and reviewing restaurants, and from there I took off!
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Smooth? Yeah right! LOL But for the most part, yes. In the initial stages of becoming a content creator you learn who really rocks with you. Why? Because they are following, engaging, and genuinely enjoying your content. Asking “when are you dropping your next video” or showing support in any form.
Your family and close friends will let you down FOR SURE. They’re not watching “your little videos” or liking your posts. They’re scrolling right by it! LOL. I learned to not let it hurt my feelings because at first it did. It’s really just part of the game. I tell everyone like I was told, “it’s views over likes”. They’ll circle back once it takes off. Will you be willing to let them ride though?
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I specialize in business promotion. I’m not a food critique or “food reviewer”. I consider myself more as a travel guide. I’m proud that I’ve been able to create a genuine following that really engages with me and TRUST me at that.
What sets me apart from others is that I don’t lie! These creators are selling their souls for a lamb chop dinner and a lemon drop. Our people are spending their hard earned money on the places that we are promoting and to lie to them for a couple dollars is crazy! I can’t do it.
Can you tell us more about what you were like growing up?
Growing up I always knew I belonged on TV. Doing what? I had no idea. To be honest, I’m still figuring it out. I’ve tried modeling. At one point I thought I wanted to sing, I’ve been on movie auditions, and have done movie extra work. I’ve even hosted podcasts. Deep down I’ve always known I was destined for greatness and would become some sort of public figure.
