Today we’d like to introduce you to Sara Bain.
Hi sara, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
Growing up with my mom who was a hairstylist, I was enthralled from a very young age by the beauty industry and dreamed of one day becoming a stylist myself. What started as foiling Barbie heads eventually turned into a beloved career after graduating cosmetology school in 2013. I began my career specializing in bridal and editorial hair and makeup, spending several years working countless on-site weddings across Metro Detroit. After three years in the bridal industry, I joined Oliver Simone Salon, where I have proudly called home for the last decade. Today, I’m known for my luxury approach to blonding, extensions, and timeless bridal styling, blending elevated beauty with a warm, personalized experience for every client.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
defiantly not haha.. I built my clientele completely organically through word of mouth ,something I consider one of my proudest accomplishments. While it did not happen overnight, creating a loyal clientele that genuinely fits me has made every challenge along the way worth it.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am known for my luxury approach to blonding, extensions, and timeless bridal styling but what I value most are the relationships I built with the clients that I love deeply. I think what sets me apart from others, and it has taken me a while to be able to acknowledge out loud, is my talent. I can confidently say I am very talented at my job. I have a gift when it comes to color. I see a color once and instantly can formulate to match perfectly. I see color dimensionally, undertones, depth levels, it’s a language that comes so easy to me. I also can replicate an Inspo photo, I’m extremely visual and it translates with my clients.
Are there any important lessons you’ve learned that you can share with us?
Being true to yourself. In this industry you have to find what you love and what works for you. Success has a way of finding and rewarding you if you truly work hard. My dad has always told me that in business you must always stay “humble, respectful and honest and if you stay true to that any situation is approachable.
