Today we’d like to introduce you to Riana Scott.
Hi Riana, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Creativity has always been a part of who I am. Music was where it all started—it began as something I did for fun with my family and close friends. When I released my first song, the response was overwhelming, and it made me realize that people genuinely connected with what I had to offer. That was the moment I stopped looking at it as just a hobby and started seeing it as my purpose. I truly believe God blessed me with this gift, and I knew I had a responsibility to develop it.
Since then, I’ve been committed to becoming the best creative I can be. I’ve invested in artist development classes, bootcamps, and live performances to sharpen my craft, while also stepping into acting, hosting, and entrepreneurship. Every opportunity has challenged me to grow and become more confident in myself.
One of the biggest things I’ve learned is that my purpose isn’t limited to one lane. Whether I’m releasing music, performing on stage, acting in front of a camera, hosting an event, or building my clothing brand, Grind Now Sleep Later, everything I do is rooted in the same mission: to inspire people to believe in themselves, stay disciplined, and keep going even when life gets difficult.
I’m still early in my journey, and that’s the exciting part. I’m focused on building something that lasts—not just as an artist, but as a creator, entrepreneur, and someone who can motivate others to chase their dreams without limits.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Obstacles are apart of the process, but honestly I would say it’s been a smooth road. Don’t get me wrong it’s not easy, but nothing is. I’m grateful for every part of my journey both good and bad. One of my biggest challenges has been learning to believe in myself and trust the process, especially in an industry where it’s easy to compare yourself to others or feel like you’re not moving fast enough. As an independent artist and entrepreneur, I’ve had to wear a lot of hats—investing in myself, learning the business, balancing multiple creative passions, and staying consistent even when the results weren’t immediate.
There have also been moments of fear and self-doubt, especially when stepping outside of my comfort zone. Whether it was releasing new music, performing my first solo singing set, pursuing acting opportunities, or building my clothing brand, every new chapter came with uncertainty. But I’ve learned that growth happens when you’re willing to keep showing up despite those fears.
Those experiences have shaped my mindset and are a big reason why I live by “Grind Now Sleep Later.” It’s more than a brand name— it’s a lifestyle & a reminder that success is built through consistency, faith, and the willingness to keep going even when the path isn’t easy.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I’m a multidisciplinary creative—I make music through singing & rapping, act, host events, and own a clothing brand called Grind Now Sleep Later (GNSL). While those may seem like different paths, they all come from the same purpose: creating work that inspires people to believe in themselves, embrace who they are, and keep chasing their goals no matter what obstacles may come in the way.
I specialize in creating authentic experiences through storytelling. Whether it’s a song, a performance, a role on screen, or a piece of clothing, I want people to connect with it on a personal level. My music blends the soul of ’90s R&B with modern trap-soul, while my brand reflects the discipline, resilience, and mindset that have shaped my own journey.
What I’m most proud of is investing in myself and continuing to grow instead of waiting for opportunities to come to me. I’ve challenged myself to step outside my comfort zone through artist development, live performances, acting opportunities, and entrepreneurship, and each experience has helped me become a more well-rounded creator.
I believe what sets me apart is that I’m not trying to fit into one box. I’m intentionally building a brand where music, fashion, acting, and community all work together to tell one story. No matter the platform, my goal is always the same: to create with purpose, stay authentic, and leave people feeling inspired.
We’d love to hear about how you think about risk taking?
I think every dream requires a certain level of risk. If you’re always choosing what’s comfortable, you’re probably not growing. For me, risk isn’t about being reckless—it’s about having faith in yourself and being willing to step into the unknown, even when there’s no guarantee of success.
One of the biggest risks I’ve taken is investing in myself. As an independent artist and entrepreneur, I’ve spent my own time, money, and energy on artist development classes, bootcamps, music, performances, acting opportunities, and building my clothing brand. There isn’t a guaranteed return on any of it, but I believe that if you truly believe in your vision, you have to be willing to invest in it before anyone else does.
My perspective on risk is different, I don’t see it as something to avoid —I see it as part of the process. Chances make champions. Every opportunity I’ve taken, even the ones that didn’t go exactly as planned, taught me something valuable and brought me one step closer to the person and creative I’m becoming. I’d rather take a chance on myself than spend my life wondering, “What if?”
