Today we’d like to introduce you to Patrick Ingram.
Hi Patrick, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Photography has been a passion for me since childhood, not driven by a professional goal, but a genuine love for getting things on camera. As I approached the crossroads of choosing a career, I had dreams of the NBA like every child, yet reality steered me elsewhere. During this contemplation, my love for taking pics persisted. In 2018, during a power outage, I snapped a photo of a lit candle; its burning light against a pitch-black space from light fall off had me very interested. That moment became a turning point, revealing one of my Christ-given callings. The rest is history.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
I wouldn’t really say it’s been a smooth road. Early on I had a real drive to capture portraits in different scenic locations but I was young with no funding, so I had no means of transportation which made taking on clients difficult for about 5 years. Of course, that period from years ago has passed as we drive to our shoots now. Certain contemporary struggles that still don’t make it an easy road are things like finding a stable studio home for my shoots, building a reliable team around me, and things of that nature. However all of these challenges is what keeps things interesting and satisfying to overcome.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I specialize in conceptual, beauty, and brand photography. I’ve mostly been known for the unique concepts I execute that often give a “stop and stare” experience, which unfortunately is not super common nowadays in the game where originality starts to become lost with a lot of copy and paste shoots. Speaking on accomplishments to be proud of, I’ve recently released my art collection, Pneustos, in which I take lessons, stories, and inspirations from the Bible and express them through my own creative medium of photography allowing me to give my gifts back to the gift giver, the Lord Jesus Christ. This Christian art collection and just my neutral concepts for my portfolio in general has allowed me to set myself apart from other creatives and develop a style.
Can you talk to us a bit about the role of luck?
No luck this way. Just hard work, experimenting, and sanctification from the Lord.
