Today we’d like to introduce you to Pamela Fisher.
Hi Pamela, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I was pregnant with my rainbow baby when I took my first Cookie Class and discovered a hidden talent of decorating cookies and help me with grieving in the process, because I lost my daughter a couple months before. I lost my daughter, Ariella, 9 years ago. She was born at 32 weeks and lived for 12 hours. She had a condition called hydrops. We only discovered a problem when I was 29 weeks. I spent two week at St. joes before they finally figured out what was wrong. After that I was transferred for U of M for surgery to try to save her. A week later my water broke and I had an emergency c-section. They tried everything but her lungs never developed because of too much fluid around her lungs. I few months later I was pregnant again with my son (my rainbow). After my rainbow I suffered 3 more losses ranging from miscarriages and eptopic pregnancy. So to say my cookies saved me is an understatement. It gave and still gives me tie to just think about cookies, not loss.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has been a very smooth road. My business took off pretty fast and I’m steadily busy.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I create and decorate custom cookies and I teach cookie classes. I think it sets me apart from others as I teach a lot of cookie classes.
Can you talk to us about how you think about risk?
I don’t think I took really any major risks with starting this business. I guess my only major risk is becoming an LLC and just nervous. No one gets sick from my cookies.
