Life & Work with Ned Impastato of Michigan

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ned Impastato.

Hi Ned, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
In regards to Ned’s Eats Detroit,

It all started in 2019. I got into the hobby of photographing my meals. I figured I’d share them on Yelp so that people could use them for their reference. I created the moniker “Ned’s Eats Detroit” in 2023 and started making shorts/reels. The rest is history!

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I’d say it’s been fairly smooth! Sometimes people get a little too passionate in the comment section, but I’m just happy to see engagement take place.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am a food content creator. Some call me an influencer, food reviewer, or blogger, and although I review restaurants, the terminology of “content creator” describes me best.

I’m proud that my passion helps small businesses. I’ve met a lot of great people along the way, and I take pride in giving deserving businesses a boost.

I think what sets me apart from other content creators is that I keep the focus on the food. I don’t need to be front and center in my content. I’m passionate about food and restaurants, so that’s what deserves the shine. Sure, my name is in my moniker, but I only really did that because I was able to use my name as an acronym. I’m also honest in my content. This is important to me, because I want my following to trust my recommendations.

Any advice for finding a mentor or networking in general?
I’ve honestly done this all on my own. However, I believe it’s important to support other content creators. We should all be in this for the same reason: to support small business. When we support each other, we further support small business. It’s also important to network with the small business owners. Restaurants offer way more than just food. The people behind them deserve more credit, and content creators have the power to share their stories.
