Today we’d like to introduce you to Mike Jeffers.
Mike, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I started out singing seriously in 2003. I later became part of an R&B duo called Raw Voyces. In 2008 A friend said she knew a Director that needed a couple of male singers in her stage play. So, me and my singing partner did the play, and that landed me roles in many other plays such as, “Cheaters”, “There Goes the Neighborhood”, “Eyes of Deception”, among many others. I also star in the national distributed DVD of the hit stage play, “Entangled” by Richard Bass. In January 2014 I appeared on Raising Whitley on the OWN Network. Since 2009, I’ve been serving as both a cast member and co-writer of the live sketch comedy and improv, “Switchplay TV Live”. As well as Switchplay TV Podcast. My first directorial debut was in November 2013 co-directing “Homebound”, a stage play which produced two sold-out productions. I’ve been writing uncompleted films for a few years, but in 2017 I finally wrote and completed my first film “Bad Day” which has been selected for several festivals. Then in 2019 I collaborated with friends, & business partners, Melissa Talbot, Nate Talbot, Richard Bass, and Tonja “The Shoe Lady” Ayers to do the next film “Chocolate Kiss”. Released in 2020. Which is available now on Tubi, & Amazon Prime. 2022 be on the lookout for Intimate Betrayals.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It hasn’t been a smooth road doing this, but in life nothing good comes easy. Finance usually is one of the biggest struggles when doing entertainment. When becoming successful you have to sow into your dreams. So, I understood that, and chose not to give up. even when people told me I couldn’t even do it
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I consider myself an all-around entertainer. I sing, act, produce, direct, & write. I’m most proud of my completion of so many projects that I thought of. I use to have a lot of ideas in my head, and they would stay there. Now I bring them to life. One of the things I would say that sets me apart from others is my willingness to step outside of the box. What people say is not normal to do, I’m willing to take that chance if it feels right to me.
What would you say have been one of the most important lessons you’ve learned?
One of the lessons that I’ve learned along this journey is you’ll never know how good your work will be if you never take that chance. If you feel it’s worth trying, go for it. Let no one stand in the way of what God has for you.
