Today we’d like to introduce you to Martha D. Rosales.  

Hi Martha, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Hi! I’m Martha the owner of Nuvo Cabinets & Countertops, I am a mother, an entrepreneur, a women rights activist, philanthropist & community leader.  I have a GREAT PASSION FOR DESIGN!

I was in real estate/remodeling as a real estate investor since 2007, that ended in 2019 when my husband was diagnosed with cancer. After losing my husband the love of my life in October 2020, I fell into the deepest depression. Months passed by, and I was in a deep hole, unable to think clearly or to make proper decisions; I was in a really bad, bad place.

For more than a year my kids and I were living literally from the charity of people that know us, as I was not able to do anything. One day I needed to pay my gas and electricity bill, which were already 2 months late, and a shut-off notice was just 5 days away. Unable to pay my bill and with no money to pay for anything else gave me a wake-up call! I started thinking, what could I possibly do? With no job experience (always an entrepreneur) looking for a job opportunity was not an option. So, I started sorting out my possibilities to make money, that’s when the idea for my business was born! I didn’t have money to continue investing  in real estate, but I had the knowledge to get houses fixed for somebody else!

I started my business in March 2022 with NEGATIVE $99 on my business account. It was so hard starting this business, but I needed to do something to pay my bills and feed my children and I needed something that could give a little bit of hope in my existence.

IM SO PROUD TO SHARE WITH YOU THAT MY BUSINESS WAS CREATED FROM NOTHING, IT WAS WOVEN FROM DREAMS, RESILIENCE, HOPE, AND A HUNGER FOR SUCCESS….

I started marketing my business. Not long after that, I found the first person who started working for me installing our cabinets, after that another person came to help me install countertops. I love running my business and helping design dreams that with our products become a reality! I’m SO PROUD of my work & my company, and of course, I’m SO PROUD of my crew!!!

The purpose of my company goes BEYOND making a profit. Our core is not only to provide THE BEST SERVICE, PRODUCTS & PRICE but supporting the people that work in this company and support our community!

The promise to my clients is that I will ALWAYS do my best to provide excellent service. This is a family business, and we will treat you like one of our own. You are a member of our family!

I’m so passionate about helping others. One of my goals is to grow my business so much that I can be able to offer jobs to moms in similar circumstances just as I was!

I also started a sisterhood of female entrepreneurs, which its purpose is to support each other, share knowledge and cheer each other on to the next step in our business!

My life is not perfect, but I try to do my best! I have 3 beautiful kids, well they are not kids anymore, they are my everything and they make me so proud. My oldest daughter is an student at MSU and studying 2 majors, my son graduated from high school with the distinction of Summa Cum Laude and will start college this fall at U of M, and my youngest daughter is finally getting better after the trauma of losing her dad as well as navigating the pressure of the pandemic all at once. I’m so proud of my children! The resilience that they showed on and after 2020 while being under the awful, horrible struggles the pandemic brought upon us and at the same time, alone at home while their dad was spending most of 2020 at the hospital and me besides him, I’m just dreaming of what they are going to accomplish in life!

Life is not easy, but when you find the beauty in the little things you can live a happier life. Life can change in a second, it’s up to us how we react and the decisions that we make. I invite you to live in the present, enjoy your family, your friends, your mistakes, and your triumphs, to enjoy everything around you.

I’m Martha and this girl’s dreams are wild, sometimes scary, sometimes way too complicated but doesn’t matter, I’m making THE UNREACHABLE, REACHABLE!

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back, would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
No, it hasn’t been a smooth road; unfortunately, I found very early in my business that being a woman trying to enter in a men’s world was not going to be easy. Men don’t like to take orders from women, even vendors were trying to take advantage of me by inflating prices. But in the end, everything is a path of learning, and I take what I find valuable and discard what’s not valuable.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
My company specializes in kitchen & bathrooms, I don’t have a degree in interior design, but all years of experience flipping houses has been very helpful in my business. I love, love to see the change in a house that was outdated and how it becomes a beautiful place after remodeling.

I love to see and be part of the happiness of my customers after the job is done! That’s the most amazing part of my job, and I love running my business. I’m extremely proud of my crew & myself, my company is growing, and I couldn’t be more happy about it!
