Hi Marlene, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I started Celestial Essentials during the pandemic, at a time when my life felt uncertain and emotionally heavy. I had just gone through a difficult breakup, and instead of letting that pain consume me, I made a conscious decision to transform it into something meaningful.
What began as a personal healing outlet quickly evolved into a deeper purpose. I found myself drawn to the idea of self-care not just as a routine, but as a sacred practice. It’s something that allows you to reconnect with yourself, especially during times when you feel disconnected.
Celestial Essentials was built on that intention. I create body care products infused with affirmations because I believe skincare should be more than something you do out of habit. it should be an experience that brings you back into the present moment. So often, we move through life on autopilot, even in the quiet moments meant for ourselves. My brand invites you to slowdown, to be intentional, and to pour love back into yourself.
What started as a way to heal my own heart has become a way to help others reconnect with theirs. Through every product, my goal is to remind people that self-care is not just about how you look, it’s about how you feel, how you speak to yourself, and how you choose to show up for your own life.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. One of the biggest challenges I faced came at a time when I had just made the decision to take my business seriously and step into it more intentionally as an entrepreneur.
About a year and a half ago, I experienced a major injury where I ruptured both of my quadricep tendons. I was unable to walk for several months, which completely shifted my life overnight. During that time, I had to slow down in ways I wasn’t prepared for. I couldn’t participate in vendor events, couldn’t physically manage my products, and had to put many of my business plans on pause.
It was frustrating, especially because it felt like just as I committed to my next level, life forced me into stillness. But that period also taught me a lot about patience, resilience, and redefining what progress looks like.As I healed and regained my mobility. I made another decision to return to my business with even more intention. What once operated as something I did on the side began to shift into something I was ready to build more seriously. That experience, while difficult, strengthened my commitment and deepened the meaning behind what I create.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
At the core of everything I do is healing mind, body, and spirit.
I am the founder of Celestial Essentials, a skincare brand centered around intentional self-care and self-love. My products are infused with affirmations and designed to turn everyday routines into grounding, present-moment rituals. I believe skincare should be more than something you do on autopilot. it should be an experience that reconnects you with yourself.
In addition to my skincare line, I am also building my healing practice, Healing in Transit, where I work as a Reiki Master and sound healer. Through intuitive Reiki, sound healing, and subconscious reprogramming, I support clients in navigating emotional healing, especially those working through inner child and mother wound experiences. My work focuses on helping people release stored emotions, reconnect with their bodies, and feel safe within themselves again.
What sets me apart is that I don’t just teach healing, I live it. I’m actively on my own journey, doing the work mentally, physically, and spiritually while building my businesses. I’m also balancing entrepreneurship with a full-time career in customer service, which has strengthened my ability to connect with people from all walks of life.
What I’m most proud of is my resilience. Even after experiencing a major injury that temporarily took away my mobility, I didn’t give up on myself or my vision. I’ve continued to show up, rebuild, and realign with my purpose.
Right now, I’m in a season of becoming, fully stepping into my gifts, honoring my pace, and creating a life and business that feels aligned, intentional, and impactful.
What would you say have been one of the most important lessons you’ve learned?
One of the most important lessons I’ve learned is that comparison can quietly become your greatest obstacle. When you focus too much on what others are doing, it pulls you away from your own path and can make you question your progress.
Over time, I’ve learned to redirect that energy inward. Instead of comparing myself, I ask: Am I growing? Am I becoming a better version of myself? That shift has been transformative.
I’ve also learned that your journey has to be rooted in self-approval, not external validation. When you’re constantly seeking approval from others, you lose connection with your own voice. But when you begin to prioritize what makes you feel proud, aligned, and fulfilled, everything changes.
For me, success is no longer about keeping up. it’s about showing up for myself, honoring my pace, and continuing to evolve in a way that feels true to who I am becoming.
