Hi Lois, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
Hello my name is Lois Ivory I,am 60 years old from the Detroit, Michigan area
I’ve been in the beauty industry over 40 years plus I started as a hairstylist which I indulge in for 15 years but, was in- love with makeup and color. Color reflects who we are inside. My company Ashes to Beauty finding your inner self llc was birth in 2015 because, I was so dedicated to my career to bringing out the inner beauty in all of my clients. Makeup is more then colors to me it’s a chance for people to step out of their everyday routine and step into something wonderful that they never experienced before. I love making women feel special and good about themselves. I offer a variety of services and I use proven techniques and top-of-the line products but,another passion that I offer is Mortuary Cosmetology. My aim is to make the Deceased person look as they did in life as if they were merely asleep. This gives comfort to the grieving family members by making their loved one’s appear as they remember them. My lastest accomplishment was becoming a permanent brow artist. This really help boost women confidence. I hope that my artistic brow techniques help build my brand and confidence and inspire other beauty artist’s to keep going and keep pursuing there dreams. I’m not going to tell you this journey hasn’t been easy I, have had set backs and some serious health issues but with God in my life he has allowed me to bounce back. Today I embrace all the skills and gifts God has given me. Everyday I strive to master my craft whether it be in makeup, brow artistry, or Mortuary Cosmetology. This is my ministry where I can connect with beautiful women all around me which gave me my work name prettyeyeslo and for that I Thank God.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
I can tell you now and for many artists that this road is never smooth. Trying to obtain clients, find the right work space, learning and mastering the skills, juggling family life and health issues but I wouldn’t trade it for nothing
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I specialize now in brow artistry and permanent brow artistry. I’m most proud that I have achieved many goals even when the odds were against me. Also I’m proud of my two makeup magazines that I done. Ashes to Beauty Show Me What You Slayy and Ashes to Beauty Christmas edition. I was able to showcase my work ability and also show other artists skills too. What sets me apart from others is just being me and not trying to follow everyone’s craft. I have my way of doing things and my customers love every bit which makes me happy after leaving my chair. Seeing their faces smile and knowing they look and feel good is enough for me.

Detroit is the Capital of Hair ,and Beauty.
