Today we’d like to introduce you to Lauren Powell.
Hi Lauren, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I’ve always loved a good party. My event planning journey actually started in 8th grade, when I convinced my parents to let me throw a Halloween party. I even wrote a little business proposal to prove I was mature enough to handle it. That party kicked off a tradition that’s still going strong more than 25 years later—friends and family still travel from all over just to be there every year.
For a long time, planning events was just something I did for fun while I worked full-time as an Executive Assistant. In that role, I spent over a decade organizing corporate events, wrangling complex schedules, and basically keeping chaos in check for top-level executives. That experience made me a perfectionist in the best way—I learned how to stay calm under pressure, pay attention to every last detail, and deliver polished results no matter what.
Eventually, I realized I wanted to bring that same level of care and creativity to my own clients. That’s how Lauren Shae Events was born. I started the business to blend my love of parties with my experience in logistics and coordination. Now, I plan everything from weddings and bridal showers to holiday parties and company events. I also offer custom design services—wedding design, balloon installs, charcuterie spreads, signage, favors, you name it.
For me, it’s all about helping people celebrate in a way that feels personal and stress-free. I love seeing a vision come to life, and nothing beats watching a client smile when everything comes together just right. Whether it’s a cozy backyard wedding or a big themed bash, I’m all in—down to the last candle or custom cocktail napkin.
In the end, I believe gathering with purpose brings people closer. And I feel lucky every day that I get to help make that happen.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It definitely hasn’t always been a smooth road. Like many small business owners, I’m still working a full-time job while building Lauren Shae Events on evenings, weekends, and any spare moment I can find. Balancing both can be exhausting, especially when you’re trying to show up 100% for your clients and still have energy left for your own life.
One of the biggest challenges has been earning people’s trust as a small business. In a world full of polished Pinterest boards and big-name planners, it can be hard to convince people to take a chance on someone who’s building their brand from the ground up—even if you’re putting your whole heart into every event. But I’ve learned that word-of-mouth is powerful, and one amazing experience can lead to the next.
On a more personal note, I lost my boyfriend—my right hand man and biggest cheerleader—in November 2024. He believed in me and my business even on the days I didn’t believe in myself. He was always there to help with heavy lifting, build props, to bounce ideas off of, and to remind me why I started this journey in the first place. Losing him shook everything. But somehow, building this business has helped me hold onto him too. Every event I do now carries a little extra love, a little extra strength, and a whole lot of heart.
Through it all, I keep showing up—because I believe in what I’m building. And because I know that the hard parts are shaping me into someone even stronger, both in life and in business.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
At Lauren Shae Events, I plan and design all kinds of celebrations—weddings, bridal and baby showers, birthdays, themed parties, corporate events, and everything in between. I love getting creative and making each event feel like a true reflection of the people at the center of it. Whether that means pulling off a super fun theme, designing custom signage or favors, or just making sure everything runs smoothly behind the scenes, I’m all in.
I offer full-service planning, day-of coordination, and a ton of personalized extras—event rentals, balloon installations, charcuterie tables, favors, centerpieces, custom signage, you name it. I really enjoy the design process just as much as the logistics, and I think that balance is what sets me apart.
What I’m most proud of is how personal my work feels. I’m not a “one-size-fits-all” kind of planner. I really get to know my clients and build events that are thoughtful, fun, and unique to them. I want people to walk into a space and feel like it’s theirs, not just something copied from Pinterest.
I think people also trust me because I’ve got both sides covered—I’m super creative, but thanks to my background working with executives and planning large-scale corporate events, I also know how to keep things organized, on time, and stress-free.
At the end of the day, I just love seeing people happy—dancing, laughing, connecting. That moment when everything comes together and people are fully enjoying themselves? That’s what it’s all about for me.
What’s next?
Right now, I’m focused on continuing to grow Lauren Shae Events—taking on more clients, expanding my services, and getting my name out there. Every event teaches me something new, and I’m excited to keep leveling up, both creatively and professionally.
One of my big dreams is to own my own event venue someday—a space that reflects my vibe and gives clients a beautiful, ready-to-go backdrop for their celebrations. I’d love to create a place that feels warm, stylish, and completely customizable. A venue that’s got all the charm and all the functionality.
I also hope to eventually take Lauren Shae Events on the road—traveling to new places, planning destination events, and bringing beautiful, personalized experiences to people all over the world. Whether it’s a mountaintop elopement, a beachside wedding, or a pop-up party in another country, I love the idea of combining my love for travel with my passion for events.
Big picture: I want to keep doing what I love, keep challenging myself creatively, and keep building something that makes people feel celebrated.
