Today we’d like to introduce you to Lauren Grandberry.
Hi Lauren, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I’ve been a creative/artist my whole life. I started doing hair at a very young kid, all through grade school, and stopped while I was in college. I’ve always been apart of different talent shows, step teams, dance shows, etc. I fell in love with art at a very young age. I started my nail career in 2020 because all the nail salons closed. And i still wanted my nails done. I took everything I’ve learned from watching my older cousin, (@nursexnailtech) who has been a nail tech my whole life. I posted a “look what I did” post on Facebook showing how I did my own nails and from there I’ve had clients. Doing nails wasn’t enough for me. One day I decided celebrate me being a nail tech and throw an event to showcase my talents. I quickly realized that everything happens for a reason. The Nailversary Art Show was created in 2021 and now I’m working on the 4th production. I believe my calling is more in events and mentoring young girls, then providing beauty services. But being in the beauty industry has gotten me this far.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Was the road smooth ?? NO! In 2024 I wanted to cancel the show so bad but I knew it was bigger than me. It was more than just me looking forward to it. So even though I was overly stressed I didn’t want strip everyone of their experience. We all work hard. I’m just the director & producer so all questions and decisions fall on me. I’ve had models drop out, technical difficulties during the show, models leave me hanging day of. I took 2025 off to rebrand and mentally revamp. And I some how still have the save love and thrill for the art.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
Aside from being a nail tech, I create events. I’ve thrown 3 fashion show, a pop up shop, etc. My main focus is The Nailversary Art & Fashion show. The show highlights multiple Detroit talents and entrepreneurs. I work with new models, video and photographers, choreographers. We have small business vendors able to sale to guest. I try to extend the platform as much as I can.
Where we are in life is often partly because of others. Who/what else deserves credit for how your story turned out?
My team. Starting with my cousin, Dyamond. She’s my “second hand” she’s been here for every event hand on from working, being a model, or just listening to me. My parents are always my rocks. I have to thank My older cousin Joslynn for putting me around more people in the industry at a very young age. Number 1, I always thank god for the means to do what I do. And lastly everyone that supports All of my events.
