Today we’d like to introduce you to Krista Jasman.  

Hi Krista, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My name is Krista Jasman; I’m an artist and traveling wedding + elopement photographer based out of the Detroit, MI, area. I’m the owner of The Blue Soul Co. & Blue Soul Photography. I started my “working woman” life in the medical field, a career path I thought I had no intentions from veering away from. After almost 5 years in EMS, I’m overjoyed to be building a business that will allow me the financial, spiritual, and creative freedom I know my soul craves. To capture adventurous love stories in some of the most beautiful nooks, crannies, valleys, and mountains our beautiful world has. My soul has always been pulled towards anything involving creativity and an artistic viewpoint, which is why Blue Soul is my absolute dream come true, and it’s an honor to be sharing my journey with you. 

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Although I’m still early in my photography journey, like any other business, Blue Soul has had its struggles. I started Blue Soul Boutique originally in 2020, and due to unforeseen circumstances, I ended up putting a pause on The Blue Soul Co. altogether. Personally, I had issues not comparing myself to other businesses + products similar to mine. To wanting to be THERE already. So, with fear and anxiety leading the way, Blue Soul closed shop in 2021. After a lot of soul searching and time away from Blue Soul at the end of 2022, I reopened Blue Soul Boutique + launched Blue Soul Photography in January 2023. I couldn’t be happier with the road we’re paving ahead here at The Blue Soul Co. and I’m incredibly grateful for the opportunities this life has. 

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I’m an artist and traveling wedding + elopement photographer. I’d say the biggest thing that sets me aside from others is my personal energy. I absolutely love love, and getting the honor of capturing someone’s wedding day is a feeling unmatched. I love getting to know my couples and forming a connection with them so that I can best show their love story in a way that’s meaningful to them. I’m also a HUGE traveler, and as someone who wants to see the world, I offer discounts to couples helping make that happen one love story at a time. 

We’d love to hear about how you think about risk-taking.
I believe taking risks is necessary in life and in business. What you or your business is willing to risk is up to the owner + contributing parties, of course, but every business takes risks it just depend on when and how large. I believe I’m currently taking a risk with my business as it’s not full-time yet, but I have started to work less hours at my day job to accommodate my growing business, and financially that can be risky, as I’m sure so many others can understand.
