Life & Work with Katherine Lamsa of Fowlerville

Today we’d like to introduce you to Katherine Lamsa

Hi Katherine, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
In 2017 I left my full time job to stay home with my son and pregnant with twin boys. After their stillbirths decided to start supplementing my husbands income with my art and crafts that helped keep me occupied. I started selling crafts that I was making which grew into decals, tumblers and teeshirt making. We had another son with a CHD (congenital heart defect), HLHS (Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome) so everything was paused until after his passing and soon after a failed IUD led to our daughter and I began switching my creative focus to woodwork and was soon joined by my father in law and we have been working hard to build a business together to support our family and spend as much time as possible with my 3 children I am blessed to be able to raise.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It is challenging being a work from home mom raising children and working to make a living can be challenging to balance. We have been working hard to make a name for ourselves and create items to stand out against all the emerging laser companies

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
We have laser engravers but like to be different from others adding fun, and a bit of adult humor to our items. We focus on our handmade games, gifts, Cocktail Smokers and shot trays along with earrings, children’s craft kits, Michigan themed signs, RPG supplies, promotional items for businesses and have fun making unique items so we’re always carrying new and interesting pieces.

What does success mean to you?
Success for us is being able to help support our family while being able to spend as much time with them as possible.
