Today we’d like to introduce you to Jake Bruce.
Hi Jake, so excited to have you on the platform. So, before we get into questions about your work life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today.
As a kid, my parents would take my brother Noah, sister Bekah and I to historic locations for vacation. We would visit places such as Lincoln’s grave/home, Revolutionary War Battle sites, forts, Washington D.C., and more. Our favorite of these locations and the one we visited the most was Gettysburg, PA. Traveling to such a historic landmark made both Noah and I fall in love with US History. There’s one other thing in Gettysburg though and that’s ghosts. From a very young age, we were going on ghost tours at all of the historic locations we would visit. This, as well as watching a TON of Ghost Adventures and Ghost Hunters brought on a fascination with ghosts and the paranormal.
In Spring of 2021, my family took a trip to Savannah, GA and of course, Noah and I were excited to visit some haunted locations in the city. We filmed a video just for fun at a famous cemetery in Savannah in which we tried to debunk a supposed video of a ghost that was captured there. We loved filming that video so much that we immediately started thinking about starting a YouTube channel which could allow us to travel to Haunted and Historic locations as a full-time career.
In September 2021 we came up with a channel name (Spirit Stalkers), made our social media pages, and booked our first location; The Old Blackford Jail in Hartford City, IN.
We are now a year into our channels life and we are LOVING the journey. We are on the cusp of being able to investigate the paranormal full-time through making our feature-length YouTube documentaries!
We have investigated locations such as Gettysburg, Indiana State Sanatorium, Fowler Theatre, the Stone Mansion, and more.
Being able to bring people high-quality documentaries centered around history and the paranormal makes Noah and I incredibly happy and we know Spirit Stalkers will take us far.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
As brothers we obviously have our differences. So creative differences as well as different work styles have caused some arguments here and there. These issues also arise because of our 4-year age gap, I’m 21 and Noah is 17. However, we have always overcome these challenges and they usually make our resolve stronger to keep pushing ourselves and to continue this journey.
Our relationship as brothers has NEVER been as strong as it is now and we are very proud of that.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
Right now, Spirit Stalkers is our work. We are monetized on TikTok and will be monetized on YouTube shortly.
We have seen the potential that we and our channel have so we put 40+ hours a week into editing, social media, outreach, marketing, filming, and more.
We’d love to hear about any fond memories you have from when you were growing up.
My favorite childhood memories (and I think Noah would concur) are either the yearly trips my family took to Muskegon, MI with my grandma and grandpa or the almost yearly trips we took to Gettysburg. Gettysburg to this day is my favorite place on Earth and it’s all because of those trips.
