Today we’d like to introduce you to Hannah Logan
Hi Hannah , can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I grew up in Lapeer, Michigan and graduated from Lapeer High School. My journey into photography began in 2017, when my now-husband gave me a camera as a graduation gift. At the time, I was studying Meteorology, but I quickly found that photography was no longer just a hobby—it was something I wanted to pursue seriously. I shifted my focus to business and taught myself the art of photography. While balancing two jobs and school, I began building my client base and forming connections within my community. Over the years, I’ve had the opportunity to travel around Michigan, photographing its iconic lighthouses, landscapes, and the natural beauty that makes this state so unique. In 2020, my husband and I married, and in 2022, we made the move to Nashville. There, I was fortunate enough to take part in a photography mentorship program that expanded my skills and gave me a deeper understanding of photography technology and editing techniques. During my time in Nashville, I had the privilege of being published several times and working with some incredible people.
When my husband was offered a job in St. Joseph, we packed up and relocated once again. St. Joseph had always been one of my favorite places to visit, so being able to live and work here feels like a full-circle moment. I’m excited to continue capturing the beauty of Michigan and sharing the stories of this incredible state through my photography.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Photography is a rewarding but demanding profession, and any photographer will tell you it’s not for the faint of heart. The unpredictability of the business can be a challenge—one month you may be fully booked for months ahead, and the next, you might find yourself with little to no bookings. Early on, I learned the importance of having multiple income streams to maintain stability, especially as I was just starting out. Moving frequently has its own set of challenges, and when we first relocated to Nashville, it was tough to establish connections and build a steady client base. However, over time, I was able to integrate into social groups, network, and build meaningful relationships that helped grow my business. It wasn’t an overnight process, but persistence and community engagement allowed me to establish a presence in a new city. Now that I’ve returned to Michigan, I’m fortunate to have reconnected with many of my previous clients. As I continue to build and expand my business, I’m excited to cultivate even more connections and opportunities in the future.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am a photographer with a passion for capturing life’s most meaningful moments, specializing in engagement, wedding, maternity, and family photography. While I find joy in all aspects of my work, I am particularly proud of my engagement photography. It’s been an honor to have some of my engagement sessions published, a recognition that continues to inspire me. In addition to my portrait work, I have a deep appreciation for architecture and nature photography, and I’m equally grateful for the opportunity to have my work in these areas featured as well. What I believe sets my work apart is my ability to capture not just images, but the essence of each moment—the emotions, the connection, and the love that make every session unique. My goal for Cloudy Days Photography is to create a gallery that allows my clients to revisit and relive their most cherished memories through the lens. I aim to empower my clients by capturing them in their truest, most authentic form, free from overly staged or posed moments. I believe that the beauty of photography lies in its ability to tell a real, heartfelt story.
What matters most to you?
What matters most to me is ensuring that every person feels truly comfortable and confident during their session. My goal is for them to look back at their images and be filled with warmth and joy every single time. I strive to capture moments that are not only beautiful but also authentic, reflecting genuine love and emotion. Too often, people shy away from being in front of the camera due to concerns about how they’ll be perceived. My mission is to show them that, regardless of appearance, it is the love and authenticity we share that truly defines us. At the end of the day, it’s not the clothes we wear or how our hair is styled that we remember—it’s the love, the connection, and the memories we create in those moments that stay with us forever.
