Life & Work with Erick Mayorga of Grand Rapids

Today we’d like to introduce you to Erick Mayorga.

Hi Erick, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Growing up my dad would organize events around the city also helping run them it never interested me growing up yeah I thought it was cool being able to go to these big concerts for free seeing Artist who I would listen to being able to meet them but I never thought I would end up following my dads footsteps into the event organizing scene It didn’t catch my eye until 2023 I would start planning and looking up information more about how to create my own events and later on would ask my dad for his thoughts and his ideas I would learn and plan for 2 years until this year (2025) I was able to finally create my and organize my first event/concert this year!

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
No it wasn’t easy to get to where I’m at right now and I wouldn’t say right now is the place I want to be I think I still have a lot to learn and I want to be one of the ost successful event organizers in the country but some of the struggles that I would have too face is all of the permits and licenses you need to be able to organize a concert also the city’s approval and venue requirements and regulations were some key struggles we had to get through also getting in contact with some artist is very difficult trying to find the right people to talk too to make some events happen!

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I’m an Event Organizer I host and run events/concerts I’m known for being the youngest event organizer In the country at only 20 years old and for being an artist I make music! I’m proud of where I’m at I feel like it was a long journey I took I focused on making events and took time to do what I really wanted to do and made my own business out of it. I’d say what sets me apart from others is my work ethic I think if I want to make something happen I make it happen I’m don’t mess around with my work I like to do everything the right way and I like to see the people of the city having a fun time at our shows!

Are there any apps, books, podcasts, blogs or other resources you think our readers should check out?
I would say the only podcast I listen too that help me out a lot for gaining knowledge in both music and work scene would be Agushto Papa Podcast what I like about their podcasts is that you can learn a lot from artist and their team for connections wise like their was this music group who I couldn’t find their manager to try to book them and they said in one of their videos that groups managers name and i easily got access to that managers information and sent them an email about a show for the future!
