Life & Work with Dylan Tent

Today we’d like to introduce you to Dylan Tent.

Hi Dylan, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstories.
My name is Dylan Tent. I am a commercial helicopter pilot and top-producing realtor with Signature Sotheby’s Realty. I dropped out of college after watching a snowboarding movie called The Art Of Flight. I had dreams of becoming a heli-ski pilot. I earned my commercial helicopter pilot’s license and started selling aerial photography of luxury homes around Michigan. This led to my career in Real Estate. A friend that I had sold a picture to told me that if I got my real estate license, then I could sell his luxury lakefront home! From there, I started working in luxury real estate full-time!

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back, would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I think anyone starting a career in real estate is in for a bumpy road at first, but overall, I had a lot of success early on, especially with selling luxury homes. However, the struggles I faced were that I was a 23-year-old that had never had a job, never owned a home, and had no idea what I was doing starting out!

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I think the thing that sets me apart from most real estate agents is what I would be willing to do to draw attention to someone’s property. I regularly land helicopters at homes to draw attention to the property. We are able to survey the perfect lot from the air or travel across the state to find a perfect vacation home. Also, in my real estate videos, we often do X Games-style stunts with motorcycles, unicycles, snowboards, etc to sell the lifestyle of each home. I do all of my own stunts lol

What do you think about happiness?
Freedom makes me happy. I am always working towards financial freedom by investing in cash-flowing vacation rentals. Outside of professional goals that make me happy I really love my dogs, my fiancé, racing motorcycles, mountainbiking, wakeboarding, golf, hockey, and spending time with family.
