Life & Work with Dennis Loren of Dearborn, Michigan

Today we’d like to introduce you to Dennis Loren.

Hi Dennis, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I am a freelance graphic artist that works in the music business, I design CD and LP packages, as well as posters, t-shirt designs and other concert tour merchandise. I have worked on projects for Bian Wilson, The Beach Boys, Frank Zappa, Paul McCartney, Jimi Hendrix and many others since 1967.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Breaking into this field is difficult, but once you have gained a reputation the work becomes steady..

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I have been able to draw since I was a child. In Junior High School, I had a teacher that tutored me after school twice a week. He recognised my talent and help me lear various techniques.

I have designed packaging, concert posters and tour merchandise for Jimi Hendrix, Paul MacCartney, Frank Zappa and many other great musicians.

I have lived in both Los Angeles and San Francisco for a combined 35 years and built my reputation in those citiesm befire moving back to Dearborn, Michigan in 2014,

I am proud of designing the 50th Anniversary logo for The Beach Boys (right here in Dearborn – ha!).

What matters most to you? Why?
Family and friends. The love and help they give me.
