Today we’d like to introduce you to Darci Todd

Hi Darci, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I started getting into makeup when I was selling SeneGence products. My name spread quickly through local recommendations by people who I’ve worked with, and that was when I decided that I enjoyed the artistry aspect more than the sales, so after obtaining my MUA Certification through that company, I branched off and started doing makeup professionally for local formal events. I love being a part of big days for brides, bridal parties, graduates, competitive dancers, or even just to amplify beauty for fun! I even recently had the honor of volunteering my time to do makeup for the beautiful women who were competing is the National Ms Wheelchair of America competition that took place in Grand Rapids.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
I’ve truly not had a difficult time getting where I am today. While it would be fun to have it be a full time job, I’m happy with it being an occasional side hustle.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I’ve been doing makeup since I can remember, but more professionally since 2016. People tend to remember me because I love interacting with my clients. I bring brides into my home to do pre-wedding trial runs, and I love getting to know each one personally. I specialize in a natural, enhanced look, but am very versatile and can do bold glamour too. I’m proud to say that I’ve never had to advertise, and people who book me are all personal recommendations.

What do you like best about our city? What do you like least?
I love the greater Grand Rapids area! While I’m not originally from here, I feel at home in this city. It’s welcoming, beautiful, and diverse! We have great food, great drinks, and a variety of things to do in the city.
It’s gained interest for obvious reasons!
