Today we’d like to introduce you to Courtney Cutino.
Hi Courtney, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I started working with polymer clay about 10 years ago, and it was just an artistic outlet for me. Over the years, I saw popularity rise with polymer clay and I also witnessed peers take their art from a hobby at home to doing markets, shows, and galleries. Finally, in 2024 I decided that it was now or never if I really wanted to pursue my personal art journey. I quit my day job, and immersed myself in designing jewelry, creating a website, and starting content creation. Now, in 2026 I’m focusing more on content creation and custom orders while I take a break from shows to be a first time mom.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Overall, it’s been a learning experience. Paying for shows where you don’t make your fee back is always discouraging and you come home feeling defeated. Especially if you’re doing an outdoor market, and weather isn’t on your side. Or, if the coordinator doesn’t highlight/advertise the vendors that will be attending. Content creation and remaining consistent on all chosen platforms is also a struggle if you’re someone that doesn’t want to be attached to your phone ALL the time. But, once you find a good coordinator for shows, you feel empowered as an artist and can provide more for your customers and community!
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I specialize in polymer clay necklace pendants that are cottagecore themed with gothic/witchy aesthetic undertones. I wanted to combine clay with crochet, so I’ve also learned to crochet over the past two years. I’m very proud to see that dedication of learning to crochet, as my crochet items are unique, my own designs, and sell to people of all ages! Currently, I’m making crochet choker necklaces with my clay pendants. What really sets me apart from others, is that I stick with the theme of my brand. So almost everything I make has a small touch of faux moss added to it.
Is there something surprising that you feel even people who know you might not know about?
The biggest surprise is when people find out I’ve only been crocheting for two years, and for the most part I figure out the designs myself. I may look up a technique on YouTube to help me understand what I want to accomplish, but for the most part… It’s learning through trial and error.
