Life & Work with Celeasha ‘Huni’ Wilson of Michigan

Today we’d like to introduce you to Celeasha ‘Huni’ Wilson.

Celeasha ‘Huni’, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
What began as a simple dream and a heartfelt prayer asking God to stir up the talents and giftings within me became something far greater than I could have imagined. I asked Him to help me create something that would sustain the work of Huni’s Helping Hands Ministries, a ministry devoted to feeding and supporting the homeless community. Out of that prayer, a cosmetics line was birthed.
This business is more than a brand; it is an extension of ministry. One hundred percent of the proceeds are used to support individuals in need, allowing the work to continue and lives to be touched through compassion, provision, and service.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
What truly opened my eyes was realizing that just because you start a business, it doesn’t mean you automatically have an audience ready to buy and support it. I learned very quickly that you should never assume friends will be your customer base, and I also learned the hard lesson of never mixing friendships with business. That was a major adjustment for me in the beginning.
Another challenge I faced was finding the time to actually create and produce my products. Since I am currently working a full-time 9–5, managing my time effectively often felt overwhelming. Balancing my job, my responsibilities, and my business required discipline and sacrifice, and it’s still an area I’m growing in every day.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am a proud mother of two wonderful children and a grateful grandmother to two beautiful grandchildren who continually inspire my journey. My passion for serving others is reflected in the many roles I hold; educator, counselor, and teen mentor, where I am dedicated to guiding, encouraging, and equipping individuals to grow and thrive.
I am also the founding owner of Huni’s Helping Hands Ministries, a ministry devoted to supporting and uplifting individuals who have fallen into hardship. Through this work, I am committed to offering compassion, practical assistance, and hope to those navigating challenging seasons of life.

Do you have any advice for those looking to network or find a mentor?
Finding a mentor is extremely important. In business, having the right mentor can make all the difference. It’s essential to be guided by someone who operates with integrity. Someone relatable, trustworthy, honest, and dependable. A strong mentor shows compassion, understands your challenges, and takes the time to truly grasp your vision. When you are supported by a mentor who believes in your potential and aligns with your values, you gain not only guidance but also encouragement, accountability, and a clearer path toward your goals.
