Life & Work with Cassandra Nightingale of Michigan

Today we’d like to introduce you to Cassandra Nightingale.

Hi Cassandra, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My journey into skincare really started from a place of frustration and purpose. I’ve always been passionate about wellness, beauty, and taking care of myself, but I found myself increasingly disappointed by how many products marketed as “clean” or “natural” still contained questionable ingredients, fillers, or simply didn’t deliver real results.

At the same time, I was navigating my own health journey and becoming much more intentional about what I was putting in and on my body. I started deeply researching ingredients, learning about cold-pressed oils, skin barrier health, inflammation, and how truly nourishing skincare can support not only the skin, but confidence as a whole.

What began as curiosity quickly turned into a passion. I started formulating products myself, obsessing over ingredients, textures, and results. I didn’t want to create just another skincare line, I wanted to create something luxurious, highly effective, and genuinely non-toxic. I believed women deserved skincare that felt indulgent but was also deeply intentional and transparent.

VM is a reminder women are worthy of care, confidence, and showing up fully as themselves. Our mission has always been simple: create concentrated, luxury skincare using organic, cold-pressed ingredients that truly support healthy, radiant skin without unnecessary fillers or toxins.

Over time, what started as one woman mixing formulas with a vision has grown into a brand carried in spas and wellness spaces, with loyal customers who trust us with their skin. Seeing women regain confidence, simplify their routines, and genuinely fall in love with their skin again has been the most rewarding part of this journey.

I’m still incredibly hands-on and passionate about every product we create. For me, this has never been just about skincare, it’s about helping women feel confident, cared for, and beautiful in a way that aligns with their health and values.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It definitely has not been a completely smooth road, but I think that’s true for most entrepreneurs building something meaningful.

One of the biggest challenges was starting a skincare brand in an already crowded industry. There are so many products on the market, and consumers have become understandably skeptical of beauty claims. Building trust took time, especially because I wasn’t interested in taking shortcuts or creating products simply to follow trends.

I’m also someone who values integrity deeply, so formulating products took much longer than expected because I was committed to getting them right. I wanted every ingredient to serve a purpose, every formula to be highly concentrated, and everything to align with my standards for non-toxic, luxury skincare. There were moments where the easier route would have been faster or more profitable, but I’ve always believed long-term trust matters more than short-term growth.

Like many small business owners, I’ve also worn every hat, founder, formulator, customer service, marketing, shipping, content creation, and everything in between. Balancing entrepreneurship, motherhood, marriage, and life while growing a business has stretched me in ways I never expected. There have been seasons of self-doubt, financial risk, and learning curves.

But honestly, those struggles shaped the brand. They taught me resilience, patience, and the importance of staying aligned with your “why.” Every challenge pushed me to refine the business, listen more closely to my customers, and stay committed to the mission. Looking back, I’m grateful it wasn’t easy because it made the foundation of VM Skincare stronger and more intentional.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
At VM Skincare, we specialize in luxury, non-toxic skincare that prioritizes skin health, barrier repair, and real results. Our products are intentionally formulated using organic, cold-pressed oils and highly effective ingredients without unnecessary fillers, synthetic fragrance, or ingredients that don’t serve a purpose. We focus heavily on hydration, anti-aging, inflammation support, and helping women achieve healthy, glowing skin in a way that feels both indulgent and aligned with wellness.

What I’m most proud of is that VM Skincare was built with integrity at the center. I never wanted to create products based on hype or trends, I wanted to create formulations that people could genuinely trust. Every product is something I personally obsess over, test, and stand behind. We’re very intentional about what goes into our formulas and equally intentional about what stays out.

I think what sets us apart is that we bridge the gap between luxury and clean beauty. So often, consumers feel like they have to choose between beautiful, effective skincare and non-toxic ingredients and I wanted women to have it all! Our products are highly concentrated, meaning a little goes a long way, and we prioritize quality over mass production.

We’re also incredibly relationship-driven as a brand. I care deeply about our customers and genuinely want them to feel confident in their skin. Some of the most rewarding moments have been hearing from women who say their skin has transformed, their confidence has returned, or they finally feel comfortable going makeup-free again.

Personally, I’m most proud that VM Skincare has grown organically through trust and word of mouth. To me, that says everything. In an industry full of noise, having women come back again and again because they truly believe in the products means the world to me.

Alright, so to wrap up, is there anything else you’d like to share with us?
I’d probably leave readers with this: skincare doesn’t have to be overwhelming. You don’t need 15 complicated steps or every trending product on your bathroom counter to have beautiful skin. I’m a big believer that consistency, quality ingredients, and taking care of yourself from the inside out matter most.

Also, if you ever meet me in real life, there’s a very good chance I’ll start talking to you about ingredients, skin barriers, or why I’m passionate about cold-pressed oils, fair warning! I truly love what I do and could probably talk skincare longer than most people would prefer!

More than anything, I hope women know they deserve products that feel luxurious, support their health, and help them feel confident in their own skin. To me, skincare isn’t about perfection, it’s about caring for yourself and showing up as the best version of you.

And if all else fails? Hydrate, and never underestimate the power of a really good moisturizer!
