Today we’d like to introduce you to Casey Robson.
Hi Casey, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I have been working in graphic design for about 12 years for various agencies and companies. I’ve always been a freelancer on the side, working on projects here and there for people I knew or were within my network. It wasn’t until 2023 when I decided to really take my freelance work to the next level. I created my Instagram account, refined my brand, committed to who I am as a designer and started marketing my services. That was when I really began to see some success in my business.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
My biggest struggle was defining my design style, putting my values into words and having confidence in myself that I know what I’m doing. I still sometimes wonder if I know what I’m doing (I do, I think) which can be a struggle. However, after I complete a brand project I always remember that it began as just a blank, white page and is now filled with a great and cohesive brand identity. Remembering this, I am always so proud of my projects and the work I put into them. I have amazing clients and am lucky to be able to contribute to their wins.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I specialize in Brand Design.
What is brand design you ask? When you go into a store or restaurant (for example) you will see signs, brochures, menus and other things that represent that brand. When you visit that store’s website, you should recognize the aesthetic, style and logos used in store.
A brand should consist of a library of logos, a consistent color palette, clear typography, graphic assets, tone of voice and messaging. All things that represent the brand’s values and goals. The brand should show up cohesively on all platforms and tell the same story consistently.
I’m not just a logo maker. I create brands that run deep within the visual identity and messaging to give businesses a strong foundation. The work I do is rooted in helping small to medium businesses find success and I love to teach business owners the value of a proper brand identity.
Along with a brand identity, I also design websites, print collateral, social media templates and posts and most of what your business may need. With all of these additional assets, the brand flourishes and really comes to life.
I’m so proud to work on brands and be part of their success story. When clients come back for additional projects or refer me to other business owners, it really shows the value that I bring as a brand designer.
What matters most to you?
The success of the businesses I work with is the nucleus of my work. I love to see small businesses do great things and feel confident based on the work I do for them. When the business is local to me, it’s especially cool. Contributing to a little slice of my own community brings additional value to my job.
The importance of having small businesses in a community is huge and to be part of those stories gives me so much joy. I put my fullest efforts into each project and am continuously obsessed with them even when the project is completed.
