Life & Work with Carlie Robinson

Today we’d like to introduce you to Carlie Robinson. 

Hi Carlie, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
My name is Carlie Robinson and Crave By Carlie was started as a way to provide quality active wear that is both fashionable and affordable. As a fitness enthusiast for about 6 years now, I worked out 4 to 5 times a week and I would always search for the cutest sets to keep me motivated. I spent tons of money on other brands and while some were beautifully designed, the quality was not worth even half the price other brands were selling them for. I wanted to bridge that gap and create exclusive pieces that would sustain and keep you looking good in AND outside the gym. My vision for Crave is bigger than what you see now, as we have not even launched half of the things that I have in mind for us. 

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Crave By Carlie has just hit 1 year old and to say the road has been without struggles would be untrue. Some of the struggles I have faced is being a 1-woman army. Doing everything yourself can be a struggle of its own, however, when you are first starting out you don’t have much to offer other individuals but free merchandise and love. Which leads me to the next struggle, funding. Starting any business will cost you some amount of money, and without investors or loans to help get you started, you will have to take a chance and utilize your own money. Utilizing your own money can be a huge risk, however, it could also end up being very beneficial when you’ve done the right research and made the right moves. 

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I have been a mental health specialist for 6 years, working primarily with children with developmental and mental disabilities. I am most known for working out the body and the mind. Those who know me would tell you that I am a deep thinker that likes to truly understand another individual. I am most proud of creating my business Crave By Carlie and seeing other individuals rock my brand. I am also most proud of being able to transform my own body into one that I love very much. I believe what sets me apart from others is this brand was built off a lifestyle I already honed and loved. Crave By Carlie lives up to being exactly what I wanted it to be, a quality activewear brand that is both fashionable and affordable. 

Before we let you go, we’ve got to ask if you have any advice for those who are just starting out?
My advice for individuals that are just starting out would be to do your research, stay consistent, make sure it’s something you love, and take your time. Nothing good comes from rushed work. Take your time to make a masterpiece out of what you love and you’ll have no regrets when things don’t go as planned. You will go back to the drawing board and start again.
