Life & Work with Brandon “the Seventh” of Grand Rapids, Michigan

Today we’d like to introduce you to Brandon “the Seventh”

Hi Brandon, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Music was my constant companion growing up, starting with family jams and then evolving through high school band. After some college and valuable internships, I was incredibly fortunate to collaborate with talented friends like Sango,Waldo, and the AGO Music family. Those collaborations opened doors to amazing opportunities, leading to tours, production work, and the chance to build my own career as an active artist. It really was a combination of hard work and being in the right place at the right time. I’m so thankful for everyone who believed in me, and I hope my story shows that with passion and perseverance, you can make your musical dreams a reality. I’m always excited to see what the future holds, and I hope to connect with even more music lovers along the way.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Looking back, it wasn’t just about others giving me opportunities; I also took a bunch of leaps of faith myself! Some were total shots in the dark, others were big, bold moves, and honestly, a few of them completely changed my career path. It really came down to putting my ego aside and letting my pure love for music take the lead. I mean, I really love music! So, getting to work in any part of it – whether it’s producing, engineering, DJing, or even songwriting – feels like such an honor. You know, chasing your dreams takes a lot of self-confidence, something they definitely don’t teach in school. But, I learned it along the way, through all the ups and downs.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
Michigan’s rich musical heritage, including electronic, gospel, rap, and soul. Those all inspires my production and taste level. I aim to bend those genres and make music that’s both moving and motivational, as heard in my new single “FINISH WHAT WE STARTED.” Which combines heavy bass with soulful chords and a motivational message in the title – Go stream it if you haven’t, it’s out now on all music platforms.

We’d love to hear about any fond memories you have from when you were growing up?
Playing video games all day/night and seeing adults completely lose themselves in their favorite songs, especially at laid-back backyard bbq style functions. There’s something truly special about watching people let go and genuinely enjoy the moment, all thanks to the music.
