Life & Work with Ari’el Chenise of Detroit

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ari’el Chenise

Hi Ari’el, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I grew up in a single parent household and unfortunately had to watch my mother battle depression. I later noticed that those traits were in me as while. So I became determined to not allow it to stop me from becoming the greatest version of myself. Life was hitting me with so many disappointments but I refused to give up; I just kept taking chances on myself. Then before I realized it I was in school for Fashion Design at Dallas College and in 2017 I was able to showcase one of my designs. That little spark showed me that I could do this. I ended up launching a company called Le’iralogy but it didn’t really fulfill me like I had thought. So I rebranded myself and randomly one day I was looking at some unused fabric I had and decided to make a clutch and named it “The Anvelop”. At that’s when the creative wheels started spinning and I changed my brand’s official name to Ar’Re and relaunched it in my hometown.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
This journey that I am on is not easy at all. I don’t have anyone I personally know that has their own company. So it’s been a lot of research on my part and talking to people about my brand and getting help that way. I also am funding my company out of pocket. So that means every last drop of extra funds go to marketing, product development and branding.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am a Fashion Designer, I am also the CEO of my own company called Ar’Re. We are working on launching a travel bag/ overnight bag.
I am most proud of my design, I really put effort in creating a luxury functioning item.
The thing I would say that sets me apart is I am trying to create an experience. I want people who shop with me to get excited about having nice items. I want them to smile every time they were, that they get a confidence boost. I want them to know that we see them.

Can you talk to us a bit about the role of luck?
Honestly, I don’t believe and luck I believe in God and I feel like God has placed me in certain positions to be able to meet people who have helped me get to another point in my brand.
