Life & Work with Archie Sudue

Today we’d like to introduce you to Archie Sudue.

Hi Archie, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I was inspired by my late grandfather, a Vietnam veteran, whom I grew up watching him pay meticulous attention when ironing his clothes and dressing for the day inspired me to pay attention to detail. He always stressed the value of one’s appearance to me, and naturally, I grew to do the same. Upon coming to the United States as an adult, I attended college for Civil Engineering and found that my true passion was for fashion. After completing sewing courses, I began full-time employment at Men’s Wearhouse and landed a management position at Macy’s Tuxedo Department store. While working both jobs, I learned the ins and outs of the retail business, learned about customer service, styles, fabrics, and more.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
After experiencing 16 plus years of war back in West Africa, Liberia. There’s nothing harder than not following my dream.

There have been lots of obstacles and hardship on this journey that could’ve stopped me but with God all things are possible.

I started my business with $45.00 bulks

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
Mel Styles is unique because we do more than just sell suits, we teach and encourage young men to dress well while providing affordable custom-fitted suits.

Mel Styles is the first black-owned luxury bespoke suits store within Downtown Grand Rapids, MI.

We specialize in bespoke custom suits for men and women of all ages.

I’m proud to because Mel Styles is a staple name in the community, annually we host a charity fashion show that brings in about 600-700 guests in attendance, 10 local designers/small business owners, about 60-70plus local models, and about 20 local vendors.

During prom season Mel Styles provides up to 5 suits for the less fortunate young men who can’t afford a suit to give back to the community.

So, before we go, how can our readers or others connect or collaborate with you? How can they support you?
We can work/collaborate in numerous way, as growing business owner. I’ve learned and realize that it teamwork to make the dreamwork.
