Today we’d like to introduce you to Angela Monroe.
Hi Angela, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Hello! I was born in Kalamazoo, Michigan, and grew up in the small town of Webberville, where I still reside today with my husband and our two children. In my spare time, I enjoy traveling, horseback riding, and outdoor adventures with my family. One of mt favorite memories is volunteering as a 4-H club leader for more than 15 years for Ultimate Horse Power Club.
I joined the Vortex team in 2012 as a Sales and Marketing Consultant, moving to the role of Sales Executive in early 2018. I was promoted to Senior Sales Executive in 2021. I work alongside community leaders, landscape architects, architects, and city planners, developing an understanding of their specific community needs and then creating a design and execution plan to make their aquatic play projects a reality. Over the course my Vortex career, I have been involved in hundreds of aquatic play projects in the United States. This has allowed me to gain a comprehensive understanding of the water attractions industry. I’m also excited to be a part of an executive team promoting Vortex’s brand-new DreamTunnel, the world’s first fully immersive water aquatic attraction.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Prior to assuming the position at Vortex Aquatic Structures International, my resume includes: Assistant to the President at Young Broadcasting Inc. (WLNS-TV6) and Director of Operations at King Media, Inc. My career and the love for parks and lakes really began in 1994 when I began working as the Assistant to the President of Young Broadcasting He loved all that Michigan had to offer outdoors and really made me appreciate it too. It was a bit of a winding road from broadcast TV to Parks and Recreation, but one road I’m very happy I took.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I’m a Senior Sales Executive at Vortex Aquatic Solutions International and have been lucky enough to be part of the Vortex team for over 10 years now. Vortex pioneered the Splashpad® and revolutionized the way children and families play in urban spaces, waterparks, and resorts worldwide. Our innovative approach to water attractions has since helped communities, businesses, and families grow. We are proud to have created over 8,000 custom installations spanning 50 countries and 5 continents.
We are people-centric innovators with a deep understanding of different markets and community needs. We are your committed business partners from planning to maintenance, with you at every stage of the project to help you attract, engage and retain your visitors, no matter your venue.
Harnessing the transformative power of water, we create play experiences for children to develop, communities to flourish, and businesses to thrive. Our mission is to help you have an impact that lasts long after families have dried off.
Is there a quality that you most attribute to your success?
I am very passionate about Vortex’s values and mission. I couldn’t ask for a better team to work beside with on every project and make each one has its own success story.
I love to hear from the communities around Michigan on what their vision and goals are for a new aquatic park. By the end of the conversation, I have already drafted ideas on how we can help the community achieve these goals and am excited to be a part of something that will bring so much happiness to kids of all ages for many years to come. It’s a pretty great way to spend your day talking to people about bringing PLAY to their community. That’s all success to me !
