Kazo* shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.
Good morning Kazo*, it’s such a great way to kick off the day – I think our readers will love hearing your stories, experiences and about how you think about life and work. Let’s jump right in? Have any recent moments made you laugh or feel proud?
I challenged myself to stop being so quick to show my friends my music. I recently showed them my album I’ve been working on and their reactions went as I expected. Not only did it make me proud but it was funny to me that they all had the same reactions.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I’m Kazo* fka Kazo Hyjaki! I’m a producer, engineer, artist, businessman. I’m working on my self produced album CANT SAY WE NOT. This album has taught me a lot about myself, my art and my abilities.
Amazing, so let’s take a moment to go back in time. Who taught you the most about work?
I was blessed enough to see both of my parents hustle. Both of my parents are entrepreneurs. I saw both of them find new ways to get to it in their own ways. They worked overtime on their own dime. I saw my dad working on cars as I grew up. He’d be out there in the rain, snow, sun, getting to it. My mom got that same dna. She taught me what devotion means.
Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
In 2023 before the release of Kino Der Toten I was in the roughest position of my life. I lost everything. My back was against the wall and all I had was my laptop and a suitcase. I thought that was it for me. I thought this was the point where every artists get to and they retire. But it actually pushed me closer into the music. I never accept defeat. Giving up never was an option for me because I have too many more years to live in life so that’ll just be me labeling myself as a loser for x amount years because I was unhappy with a certain amount of years.
Sure, so let’s go deeper into your values and how you think. Is the public version of you the real you?
Yes. As I’ve aged it’s been harder for me to mask my true self. I like it better this way.
Okay, we’ve made it essentially to the end. One last question before you go. If you knew you had 10 years left, what would you stop doing immediately?
I would stop saying no. I would say yes to every request.
