We recently had the chance to connect with Jaevonn Harris and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Jaevonn, thank you for taking the time to reflect back on your journey with us. I think our readers are in for a real treat. There is so much we can all learn from each other and so thank you again for opening up with us. Let’s get into it: What’s more important to you—intelligence, energy, or integrity?
I think energy is more important because negative or positive can effect your intelligence and integrity, If you think negative, you act negative which can put you in positions where you have questionable integrity. Then negativity affect your ability to intelligently assess situations because you’re not operating from a best case scenario.
If you don’t have the right energy you might not even feel like doing anything which will stagnate your whole life ! so focus on energy and the other two falls in line !
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I’m Jaevonn Harris — an artist, writer, lawyer, and visionary creative architect. My work lives inside several mediums: hand-drawn pop art, original streetwear under WELÇOME®, narrative world-building through OPEN MANUAL COMICS, and genre-bending music as JHarry. Instead of choosing one lane, I built a universe where all of my talents inform each other.
My brand is defined by intentionality — every stitch, line, lyric, and storyline is handcrafted. I create with a Detroit mindset, a global imagination, and a foundation rooted in faith. Whether it’s releasing new collections, publishing Life Logs, dropping new music, or expanding my comic worlds, my goal is always the same: to inspire, uplift, and prove that creative excellence is a calling worth honoring.
Thanks for sharing that. Would love to go back in time and hear about how your past might have impacted who you are today. What relationship most shaped how you see yourself?
Easy my relationship with Christ shapes how I see myself the most, experiencing the ups and downs of life and leaning on something bigger than me showed me who i really was in all aspects of life. I saw that I’m resilient, reliable, strategic, hopeful, and a warrior.
Leaning on the Lord gave me my sword to cut through all the opposition this Earth presents and there hasn’t been a battle I loss yet.
Is there something you miss that no one else knows about?
This is minor, but I really really miss the times where you can go to the Gas station/cornerstore with your friends or cousins and get a lot of stuff for $5. Now I spend almost that on one protein shake lol. Like I hate that money isn’t stretched how it used to be. Like recently the pennies went out of production and I’m like yeah, I look at pennies in my savings pouch and always get sad when I think “Man I can’t buy a got damn thing with this penny.”
Man a penny so worthless you probably can’t even buy an a** whooping with it lmao.
I think our readers would appreciate hearing more about your values and what you think matters in life and career, etc. So our next question is along those lines. What’s a belief or project you’re committed to, no matter how long it takes?
I’m committed to honoring the gifts God placed in me, no matter how long it takes or what the journey looks like. Whether it’s my art, my writing, my music, or the worlds I’m building through my brand, I’m devoted to creating work that outlives me. I believe in excellence, integrity, and using creativity the way God intended — to uplift, inspire, and show people what’s possible when you stay true to your calling. This isn’t a quick project for me. It’s a lifelong mission to build something meaningful, something global, something that reflects both my faith and my discipline. I don’t rush the process. I’m committed to it for as long as it takes.
Before we go, we’d love to hear your thoughts on some longer-run, legacy type questions. When do you feel most at peace?
I feel most at peace when I’m creating and when I’m connected to God. Whether I’m drawing, writing, or building out a new idea, there’s a stillness that comes over me. It’s the one space where time doesn’t feel real and nothing is loud — not the world, not expectations, not stress. It’s just me, my purpose, and God guiding my hands. That’s when I feel the most centered, the most aligned, and the most like myself.
