Joshua Francis of Detroit on Life, Lessons & Legacy

We recently had the chance to connect with Joshua Francis and have shared our conversation below.

Good morning Joshua, we’re so happy to have you here with us and we’d love to explore your story and how you think about life and legacy and so much more. So let’s start with a question we often ask: What are you most proud of building — that nobody sees?
A legacy. Whether it’s the music, the books, the clothing or my son. I feel like the work I’m putting into the world right now will only come back 100x in the future. Also my team, the people around me. I am very picky on who is apart of this journey.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My names Joshua “Dubble” Francis, I’m a media entrepreneur and record label owner. I started this journey in 2018 and it’s been quite a ride. We do remote studio sessions bringing equipment where you need it for a fee also release music on all streaming services. We have a YouTube channel “Royal Nation Records” please subscribe. I’m in and out of Arizona and Michigan. I have artists in both states. I graduated from the Conservatory of recording arts & sciences in Tempe and did an internship in Atlanta Georgia at Patchwerk Recording Studio. In the next year I will be releasing my 1st album along with another book. I have one book out now it’s called the “The thoughts of A Dreamer” it’s available on Amazon and Barnes and nobles. At Royal Nation we don’t want fans, we want believers.

Appreciate your sharing that. Let’s talk about your life, growing up and some of topics and learnings around that. Who taught you the most about work?
My mother no doubt about it. I seen her work 2 jobs most of my life. A single black mother with a degree just making it work. It also showed me that in the long run I didn’t want to work for anybody else when it was all said and done, because I seen how hard she worked. She should have been rich working that hard and not to say we didn’t have nice things but she should have been rich. lol.

Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
Yeah I’d say monthly, but I can’t. lol. It’s something in me, it would bother me too much to quit. To live a “normal” life, to see other opportunities and not try, I couldn’t do it. I could tell you I could, it sounds good. lol but no way man. I have to keep going.

I think our readers would appreciate hearing more about your values and what you think matters in life and career, etc. So our next question is along those lines. What would your closest friends say really matters to you?
They would definitely say God, family, closest friends and my goals. In no particular order. If I had to put them in order I would say God would still be one but goals is probably 2 to be honest. I left family to go achieve my goals. I’m in Arizona right now away from my family in Michigan. Trying to make these goals/dreams come true. It’s what I think about the most.

Okay, so let’s keep going with one more question that means a lot to us: What is the story you hope people tell about you when you’re gone?
I just hope people understand that I just wanted everybody to be their best and go for it all. I motivated people because I believe we all have another level to get to at all times. There is no limit for humans, we limit ourselves. We were made to be creators and teachers. Made to stand out and be unique. I really wanted people to understand their worth. That’s where the royalty part of Royal Nation comes in. Understand your special, then show the world.
