Today we’d like to introduce you to Tracey Sanders.
Hi Tracey, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I’ve been a serial entrepreneur for a quarter of a century. When I was 9 years old, I took a poster board, a magic marker, and a roll of tape to church and asked adults to write me a birthday message on the board with my marker. They were further inclined to tape money to the board since I had already started the first message and monetary donation to myself that was taped to the board. This experience opened my mind to how quickly one could obtain currency. From that point, I knew I could make money in various ways, and that started my entrepreneurial journey. I have been a state-licensed nail tech for 30 years and after working in a high-end salon and receiving requests for at-home services, I knew there was a need for this service and I knew I could create a platform to meet the need. In 2010, I founded Lavender Mobile Spa, a provider of spa and wellness services, in a mobile capacity. We essentially bring the spa to you. Originally, we set out to perform spa parties, that quickly grew to servicing the hospitality industry through in-room massage services. Later, we began servicing corporations for worksite wellness events. Currently, we have mobile operations in Detroit, Dallas, and Charlotte, NC.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Primarily, it has been smooth but some struggles have been keeping reliable staff, recruiting new staff, and building an infrastructure. Of course, the pandemic has been the largest issue that has affected our operations.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Lavender Mobile Spa?
Lavender is in its growth stage. We are in the process of developing a booking app that will allow for seamless booking and confirmation of appointments. It will also onboard our new staff and create a payment gateway for payroll. We plan to open additional mobile operations throughout the country and begin to license ownership. We created a line of body cosmetics that include, heel balm, sugar scrub, body creme’ and a cuticle oil pen. All of our nail techs are required to use our products when providing nail services. Products are also for sale on the website.
We stand out among most mobile spas because we offer the full suite of spa services; manicures, pedicures, massage, and facials and we don’t have a maximum number of guests that we can accommodate. In addition, we offer healthy cooking demos, chair massage, reflexology, and cranial massage for our corporate wellness package.
Our capacity allows us to service multiple events simultaneously and across the country. What makes us proud of our brand is the unique logo, the brand colors, and the feedback and reputation we have received from our customers. Overall, our staff does exceptional work and we leave an impression that results in repeat business and increased customer contacts.
Is there a quality that you most attribute to your success?
Integrity. We must be integral about business because our policy requires guests to pay for all services prior to arrival. This means we must be able to provide those services to our clients’ expectations. One of our core values is to “Always Operate in Integrity” Yes, life happens and sometimes things don’t go according to plan but we have an obligation to make it right and that is what we do. It is imperative to be fair with staff, customers, and with the company as a whole. This way, no one is short-changed.
