Inspiring Conversations with Sarah George of Connective Consulting

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sarah George. 

Hi Sarah, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I grew up in Northern Michigan, and love it here. I’ve had a passion for marketing since high school, always drawn to the why behind the buy. So, I made my college career laser-focused on all things business. For more than a decade, I showcased my marketing expertise in many areas such as banking, personal finance, sales, and non-profit organizations. “My true passion is helping others succeed in their goals to their full potential, whether that’s a person, program, or company.” 

In February 2020, I felt a strong pull to start my own marketing agency. Not knowing the future of a global pandemic was ahead. I made all the plans: business, financial, marketing. After launching, one of my first orders of marketing business was to let my network know what I was doing. Being a member of a service club was extremely valuable. The first dozen clients I worked with were somehow tied to Rotary. When I say to work for people who know, like, and trust you – this is why it works. And then referrals keep coming. 

As business continued in the Coronavirus pandemic, a new opportunity arose. I now sell a digital course that gives my fellow solopreneurs across the country focus and clarity to their marketing. 

I’ve helped a lot of clients get clear on their marketing. Especially putting the pieces together so they attract high-quality clients. The best part of owning a business has been creating deeper connections with fellow entrepreneurs. 

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Making the transition from helping market businesses in my neighborhood to marketing myself as an online business was a bit of a challenge. I worked with various mentors to support my efforts. Keeping the marketing basics in mind was useful; the functions are the same but the mechanics were very different. This same strategizing, I used for my business is what I support my clients in.

Can you tell us more about what you were like growing up?
I was actually a little bit shy as a kid. Anyone who knows me now would never expect that, I’ve really come out of my shell! 

I always had a desire for problem-solving, especially matchmaking problems with solutions. Ironically my parents’ divorce at the young age of 7 has influenced my strong value of connection.
