Today we’d like to introduce you to Rebecca Ferreira.
Hi Rebecca, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
Our Wonderland of Creations™ started in October 2023, but honestly, it didn’t start with some big plan to become a business. It started with me wanting a creative outlet and making things that I enjoyed. I’ve always loved being creative, and once I started, I realized how much I genuinely enjoyed taking an idea and turning it into something someone could actually wear, use, gift, or keep.
What began as a creative hobby slowly became something much bigger. I started learning new techniques, investing in equipment, experimenting with different products, and saying yes to opportunities that pushed me outside of my comfort zone. Over time, Our Wonderland of Creations™ grew from making a few items into a handmade business offering apparel, tumblers, decals, stickers, keychains, custom pieces, and other creations. One of my favorite parts of the business is that I’m not limited to one type of product. I love being able to take an idea and figure out the best way to bring it to life.
The business also became something I could share with my daughter, Isabella, which is where the mother & daughter part of Our Wonderland of Creations™ comes in. She has her own creative interests and has been involved in different parts of the business, including creating rhinestone phone cases, helping with orders, and joining me along the way. It’s been really special being able to show her what it looks like to build something of your own.
At the same time, I’m building this business while working full time as a logistics manager and being a wife and mom of three. There are plenty of late nights, busy weekends, vendor event prep sessions, mistakes, things I’ve had to redo, and moments where I’m learning something completely new as I go. It definitely isn’t always the picture perfect version of entrepreneurship you see online but that has also been one of the biggest parts of my growth. Building Our Wonderland of Creations™ has taught me that I don’t have to have everything figured out before I start. I’ve had to learn to trust myself, take chances, invest in my ideas, and keep going even when something doesn’t work the first time.
Since starting, I’ve expanded the products and techniques I work with, participated in vendor events throughout Metro Detroit, launched our website, taken on custom orders, and continued finding new ways to grow the brand. Every stage has taught me something and helped me understand more clearly what I want Our Wonderland of Creations™ to become.
Today, I’m still building. I don’t consider this the finished version of the story at all. My goal is to continue growing Our Wonderland of Creations™ into a recognizable brand that creates fun, meaningful, and sometimes slightly sarcastic pieces that feel personal to the people buying them, especially women and moms who are navigating all the different seasons of life.
When I look back at where I started, I think the biggest difference is that I finally allow myself to believe that something I started simply because I loved creating can become something much bigger. And I’m excited to see where that takes us next.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It definitely has not been a smooth road, but I think that’s also part of what has shaped me as a business owner.
One of my biggest challenges has been learning how to build a business while already having a very full life. I work full time as a logistics manager, I’m a wife and mom of three, and then I come home and become the owner, creator, marketer, customer service department, event planner, website manager, and everything else that comes with running Our Wonderland of Creations™. Finding the time and energy to give each part of my life what it needs has been an ongoing learning experience.
There has also been a huge learning curve. I didn’t start this business knowing everything about running a business, marketing, websites, pricing, equipment, production, vendor events, or even exactly what I wanted Our Wonderland of Creations™ to become. A lot of it has been learning by doing. I’ve made products that didn’t turn out correctly, invested in things that weren’t as useful as I thought they would be, attended events that didn’t perform the way I hoped, and had ideas that simply didn’t work. There have definitely been moments when I’ve questioned whether I was doing the right thing.
Another challenge has been learning that being creative and running a business are two very different things. I can love making something, but that doesn’t necessarily mean it will sell. I’ve had to learn to pay attention to what customers respond to, what products make sense for my business, where I should invest my money, and when it’s time to stop putting energy into something that isn’t working.
I’ve also had to work through my own mindset. Sometimes the biggest obstacle hasn’t been a machine, an event, or a slow sales week, it has been getting out of my own way. There have been times when fear, comparison, self doubt, or feeling like I needed to have everything figured out made me hesitate. I’m learning that confidence doesn’t always come before you do something. Sometimes you have to do the scary thing first, and the confidence comes afterward.
Financially, growing a handmade business has also required me to make difficult decisions. There is always another piece of equipment, another product idea, another event, or another opportunity you could invest in. I’ve had to become more intentional about distinguishing between something that is exciting and something that is actually a good investment for the business but I wouldn’t remove those struggles from the story. Every mistake has taught me something. Every event whether it was successful or disappointing has given me information I can use for the next one. Every product that didn’t work has helped me improve my process. And every time I’ve wanted to second guess myself but kept going anyway, I’ve become a little more confident in the business owner I’m becoming.
I’m still learning, and I expect there will always be challenges as the business grows. The difference now is that I don’t automatically see a setback as proof that I should stop. I try to look at it as information: What can I learn from this? What can I change? And what do I do differently next time?
For me, success isn’t about having a perfectly smooth journey. It’s about continuing to build, adjust, learn, and believe in what I’m creating even when the road gets a little messy.

Our Wonderland of Creations™ is a handmade creative business built around creating pieces that allow people to express their personality, celebrate meaningful moments, give something personal, or simply own something that feels like them.
We offer a variety of products including apparel, tumblers, stickers, decals, keychains, phone cases, tote bags, personalized gifts, and custom creations. We’re constantly expanding what we can create as I learn new techniques and add new capabilities to the business. That variety is intentional because I’ve never wanted Our Wonderland of Creations™ to fit into one tiny box.
Our customers come to us for everything from something funny or slightly sarcastic that makes them say, “Yep, that’s me,” to meaningful pieces created for a special person or occasion. We also create locally inspired pieces, seasonal collections, and custom orders that give customers the opportunity to bring an idea to us and see what we can create together.
A big part of the brand is also centered around women and moms. As a working mom myself, I understand that women can be in many different seasons at once. We can be moms, professionals, wives, business owners, friends, and still be individuals with our own personalities, interests, humor, and goals. I want the things we create to reflect that. Our Wonderland of Creations™ is for moms in every season, but you certainly don’t have to be a mom to find something here that feels like you.
What I think sets us apart is that we aren’t trying to mass produce one type of product. There is a real person behind what we make. I’m involved from the idea and design stage through creating the product, packaging orders, updating the website, preparing for vendor events, and interacting with customers. When someone places a custom order, they’re not just selecting something from a huge catalog, they’re trusting me with an idea that matters to them.
I’m especially proud of how much the business has grown beyond where it started. Our Wonderland of Creations™ now has its own website, participates in vendor events throughout Metro Detroit, offers an expanding range of products and customization options, and continues to grow as I invest in new skills and ways to create.
I’m also proud that this has become something I can share with my daughter, Isabella. Our Wonderland of Creations™ has a mother & daughter element to its story, and while I handle the majority of the day to day business, she brings her own creativity to it as well. She has developed an interest in rhinestone phone cases and helps with different parts of the business, which gives her an opportunity to explore her own creativity and entrepreneurship.
More than anything, I want people to know that Our Wonderland of Creations™ is about creating things that feel personal. Sometimes that means something meaningful. Sometimes it means celebrating where you come from. Sometimes it’s a gift created specifically for someone you love and sometimes it’s simply a shirt, tumbler, sticker, or other piece that makes you laugh and think, “I need that.”
That combination of personality, meaning, creativity, and connection is what I want Our Wonderland of Creations™ to continue being known for as we grow.
Is there a quality that you most attribute to your success?
I think the quality that has been most important to my success is resilience, the willingness to keep learning, adjusting, and moving forward even when things don’t go according to plan.
I’m someone who likes to figure things out. If a product doesn’t turn out the way I expected, an event doesn’t go as planned, or I try something in the business that simply doesn’t work, I may be disappointed or frustrated, but eventually my brain goes to, “Okay, what can I learn from this, and what do I do differently next time?”
That mindset has been especially important because I didn’t come into entrepreneurship knowing how to do all of this. My professional background is in logistics, so much of building Our Wonderland of Creations™ has required me to teach myself new skills. I’ve learned different creative processes and equipment, marketing, website management, vendor events, pricing, customer service, and all of the other pieces that come with owning a business and I’m still learning.
I also think resilience means being willing to evolve. Sometimes we get attached to an idea because we’ve invested time, money, or energy into it, but being a business owner has taught me that changing direction isn’t the same thing as failing. Sometimes growth means recognizing what isn’t working and being willing to try something different.
I’m not someone who never gets discouraged or doubts herself because I absolutely do sometimes. The difference is that I’ve gotten better at not allowing those moments to make the final decision for me. I can have a bad day, make a mistake, or question myself and still get up the next day and keep building.
That ability to keep learning and keep going has taken me from someone who simply enjoyed creating things to someone who can genuinely see herself building a successful brand. I think that resilience will continue to be one of the most important qualities I carry with me wherever Our Wonderland of Creations™ goes next.
