Inspiring Conversations with Princess Sanders of Unified women’s empowerment summit

Today we’d like to introduce you to Princess Sanders.

Hi Princess, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
The Unified Women’s Empowerment Summit was founded in 2018, with our first event held at Cobo Center in Detroit. I created the summit because I wanted women from different backgrounds to have a space where they could feel inspired, supported, appreciated, and connected.

Our goal has always been to honor women through inspirational speakers, meaningful networking opportunities, recognition, and indulgent pampering. I wanted the summit to be more than an event—it needed to be an experience where women could step away from their daily responsibilities, pour into themselves, build relationships, and celebrate their accomplishments.

Since 2018, we have hosted events at respected venues throughout Detroit and the surrounding communities, including DoubleTree by Hilton Detroit–Dearborn, the International Institute of Metropolitan Detroit, The Social 734, the Grecian Center, Burton Manor, and Andiamo Warren.

In 2024, we expanded our mission by introducing the Empowerment Brunch. We now host the brunch once or twice each year and select 30 deserving women to receive recognition for their leadership, resilience, accomplishments, and contributions to the community.

Today, the Unified Women’s Empowerment Summit continues to provide a welcoming platform where women are seen, celebrated, and reminded that their stories and contributions matter.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
One of the biggest obstacles I have faced has been getting people involved and encouraging award recipients to accept their recognition. Many deserving women are humble, uncomfortable being celebrated, or may not fully recognize the impact they have made in their families, businesses, and communities.

Coordinating schedules, securing commitments, and helping honorees understand the importance of publicly accepting their awards can also be challenging. However, I remain persistent because these women deserve to have their stories and accomplishments recognized.

This obstacle has taught me the importance of building trust, communicating the purpose behind the awards, and reminding women that accepting recognition is not about seeking attention—it is about allowing their journeys to inspire someone else.

We’ve been impressed with Unified women’s empowerment summit, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
The Unified Women’s Empowerment Summit is an empowerment and recognition platform founded in 2018 to inspire, connect, and celebrate women. We are known for creating uplifting experiences that combine inspirational speakers, meaningful networking, indulgent pampering, community resources, and well-deserved recognition.

What sets us apart is the personal and heartfelt atmosphere we create. Our honorees are not treated as numbers or names on a program. We take time to acknowledge their individual journeys and remind them that their stories, sacrifices, and contributions matter.

I am most proud that the Unified Women’s Empowerment Summit has continued serving women since 2018. The brand has grown from its first event at Cobo Center in Detroit into an established platform that has hosted experiences at venues throughout Metro Detroit.

I want readers to know that this organization is about more than hosting beautiful events. It is about building sisterhood, increasing visibility for deserving women, creating genuine connections, and ensuring that women feel seen, valued, supported, and celebrated.

We love surprises, fun facts and unexpected stories. Is there something you can share that might surprise us?
Question: What is something surprising that most people might not know about you?

Something that may surprise people is the number of different brands and services I manage across several industries. Most people may know me through the Unified Women’s Empowerment Summit or my work in the event industry, but my entrepreneurial journey extends far beyond one brand.

In addition to producing events, I provide event rentals, graphic design services, notary services, and wedding officiant services. I also own Bloom Village Center Urban Garden, a community space created to support families, provide helpful resources, and bring people together.

Although these businesses may appear to belong to different industries, they are all connected by the same purpose: serving others. Whether I am helping a couple celebrate their wedding, designing materials for a business, assisting someone with an important document, recognizing deserving women, or creating a safe community space for families, I am always finding ways to use my talents and experience to help people.

I am a true multi-passionate entrepreneur, and I believe I do not have to limit myself to only one purpose or industry.
