Inspiring Conversations with Phiona Nakato of Quality Beauty Services

Today we’d like to introduce you to Phiona Nakato.  

Hi Phiona, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstories.
I left Uganda (East Africa) about 5 years ago and settled in Eastpointe, MI. 

I’m a mother of 3, supporting 2 others(adopted) that are still residing in Uganda. 

I enrolled in healthcare certificate courses and completed and started working. 

I had to put in extra shifts at work so I could save enough money in order to purchase my own home(space). 

Completed an entrepreneurship course as well to better prepare me to be business owner. 

I came to this country already certified in Cosmetology and Hairdressing and was running my own beauty parlors. 

With the opportunities presented to me here, the system made it easy for me to establish Quality Beauty Services, LLC. 

Quality Beauty Services, LLC is a unisex beauty parlor fully stocked with high-tech equipment, ambiance, and beauty products for purchase. 

I have lived in the US for 5 years now, and my business is thriving in a way that I’m able to provide for my family back home (Uganda). 

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back, would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
As a mother, being away from my family(children) is never easy, but I had to make the sacrifice so that my babies can prosper, grow and learn what it takes to win/be successful. The whole setup (business registration and furnishing) started during the COVID pandemic. 

The lockdown was a major challenge, but I took it as a blessing, gaining time to plan and properly structure my business in anticipation that once it(lockdown) was lifted, I would be ready for my customers. And I was. 

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Beauty is aided by perception and to awaken the beauty inside of all of us is to engage in proper beauty care, and that’s what we do here. 

To quote the greats, “if you love what you do, you will never work a day in your life,” inspires me daily to give my best, and I pride myself in excellence and perfection in order to fulfill my customer(s) expectations. 

We mostly specialize in African hair braiding, hair treatments, styling, and haircuts for women, men, and children of all types of hair and age. 

We provide hair and beauty products (from 100% all natural) both domestic and foreign are available for purchase as well through our website and in-store at very reasonable prices. 

Free consultations are offered and also help clients book appointments online/by phone. 

*24-hour customer service is provided as well. 

Where do you see things going in the next 5-10 years?
We are growing and expanding by the day, all in part of the increase in volume of our new and return customers. Suggestions and reviews we have received so far have put us in position to improve and make necessary adjustments and additions to our services, making us a one-stop shop for all beauty and hair-related needs.
