Hi Mallory /Traft, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Traft and I (Mallory) began our journey together as coworkers in the hospital setting. Over the past seven-plus years, our connection has grown into a lifelong friendship between living and working together during COVID, to traveling and recognizing our shared values and a mutual passion for aesthetics. Drawing from our clinical backgrounds rooted in evidence-based practice, along with commitment to honesty, family, and integrity, we created the foundation for Magnum Opus—one’s greatest collection of work or art. The name stemming as an idea from Traft’s grandmother. With extensive time, dedication, and perseverance through the challenges of building a business, Magnum Opus became a reality.
Magnum Opus stands as the culmination of our expertise, our commitment, and our highest standard of work—a place where craftsmanship, care, and luxury come together seamlessly. Delivering our best, while thoughtfully meeting and exceeding clients’ expectations—our best work in pursuit of their best outcomes.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Starting a new build is a challenge for anyone in any service industry, and for us, it began with defining exactly what we wanted to offer, how we wanted to deliver it, and the standards of practice we were committed to upholding. From the beginning, our priority was clear: provide safe, high-quality treatments with results our clients could trust. We spent countless hours researching evidence-based protocols, reviewing safety guidelines, and ensuring that every service we offered met—and exceeded—regulations and expectations.
Creating a budget and sticking to it was another challenge, funding our start up out of our own pockets, and carefully prioritizing every expense, including securing the right business location within. Once we finally found our space, we poured endless hours into renovating it on a budget. Every detail—every color, fixture, and aesthetic choice—was intentional, chosen to create a space that felt welcoming, professional, and beautiful. We held ourselves to the highest standard, knowing our environment is an extension of the care we provide. A key step was finding a medical direction who match our values and our commitments.
As experienced nurses and a nurse practitioner, caring for patients came naturally. What we didn’t expect were all the extras that come with running a business. Learning to build a website, navigating TikTok at our age, setting up payroll, and figuring out the behind-the-scenes processes that keep a practice running smoothly were all brand-new challenges. We were determined to equip our team with the tools, systems, and support they needed to thrive.
Oddly enough, the smoothest part of the entire journey was providing patient care. Delivering services we believed in—and watching clients leave happier, more confident, and satisfied with their results—reminded us why we started this in the first place.

Can you talk to us a bit about the role of luck?
Luck in life and business isn’t something easily measured. Every person carries their own mix of challenges and magic—unique moments, opportunities, and unexpected turns that shape who they become. Life happens to all of us, and often the hardest seasons produce the greatest lessons, the strongest values, and the deepest character.
Someone who feels they’ve had “bad luck” may hold stories of resilience and growth that outweigh any advantage good fortune could ever provide. And while we’ve certainly experienced our share of luck and seemingly magical moments, we also recognize that we wouldn’t be where we are today without facing obstacles head-on.
At our core, we approach every challenge with positivity, determination, and trust in our ability to overcome whatever stands in our way. We move forward with purpose, lead with integrity, and hope for the best in every endeavor—knowing that our character, not just our luck, is what ultimately defines us.
