Inspiring Conversations with Lynette Ulman of All Grand Events + Floral

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lynette Ulman. Them and their team share their story with us below:

All Grand Events + Floral was founded in 1992 in East Lansing, Michigan serving the Lansing area in rentals and floral design services. Emily needed a career change and began working for the previous owner. After many years of growth and establishing our name in the community, All Grand Events + Floral was sold to Emily and Tyler Dawson of East Lansing, MI in January of 2013.

In the years since we’ve made numerous changes after deciding to focus only on what we do best. We hated the idea of being a jack of all trades, master of none. We sold most of our rental inventory and solely offer an elevated experience in both floral and event design across the Midwest, focusing on Mid-Michigan from Grand Rapids to Metro Detroit. We offer a unique approach to the area establishing both a reputation for top-of-the-line customer service, distinctive, organic floral designs, and bespoke event design. Our business is split 50/50 between corporate events and weddings.

In 2019, our team grew with Lynette joining, and we are able to now offer an exclusive wedding planning experience in addition to our floral and event designs. Lynette has been executing weddings and events since 2014. She joined the industry with a friend, building and running a business together. When Lynette’s business partner wanted a change in career in 2019, Lynette knew she wanted to join forces with AGE! It’s been a seamless transition these last 3 years and the growth of All Grand Events continues to expand!

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
We wouldn’t be the strong company we are today without bumps and struggles. From a planning perspective, it took about 5 years before I (Lynette) finally found my voice to stick to boundaries I created to reduce burnout, perfect the systems and workflows to serve our couples best, and built strong relationships with other industry professionals. We learn new ways of doing things with every wedding and event that passes. This industry is ever-changing and evolving. Keeping up with the trends and demands of the clientele is constant. From a floral and design standpoint, having consistent staffing has been a challenge. Our industry primarily works on weekends and late-night event tear-outs. It’s hard to find people who want to work on Saturday night at 12:00 am!

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about All Grand Events + Floral?
All Grand Events + Floral a floral, event design, and full-service wedding planning company serving couples and corporate clients in Mid-Michigan. Our mission is to provide remarkable floral and event design by curating distinctive, sophisticated events from a single inspiration. We love making the journey with couples as we capture their love story into a stunning full-scale design. As well as extending our passion into creating an ease and excitement of taking an organization’s vision and turning it into an unforgettable celebration.

We thrive best when our clients give us creative freedom to execute a vision. We value the relationships we built with not only our couples and corporate clients but other industry creatives as well. Our goal is for everyone who is involved in an event to feel heard, valued, cared for, and well served. Teamwork makes the dream work!

What makes you happy?
From a business perspective: when we hear our clients say, “We trust you 100% do whatever you think is best!” This is music to our ears. We are the logistic and aesthetic experts in our field and want our couples and clients to know that we will do everything in our power to achieve your vision and execute your event with ease.

From a personal perspective: Our support systems! We each have loving and supportive husbands helping make sure our lives are a little less chaotic at home so we can focus on our clients. Spending time with our children in our free time. We both love sushi lunch breaks during the week and mini-vacations throughout the year to recharge. Emily and Lynette are one in the same!
