Inspiring Conversations with Lisa Braidwood of Pure Barre Plymouth

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lisa Braidwood.

Hi Lisa , please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I grew up dancing as a child. I started teaching dance when my oldest daughter started taking dance classes. This eventually led to also teaching fitness classes. Once I found Pure Barre, I knew that I wanted to become a teacher. As a member I fell in love with the technique and the community and when I became a teacher, I dreamed of one day becoming an owner. When I discovered that the Plymouth studio was for sale, I knew I had to jump at the opportunity.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
I purchased the studio right at the beginning of COVID – so I really did not know what I was getting into. Our studio had to close for many months, so we held classes virtually out of our teachers’ homes initially and eventually virtually at the studio. We then were allowed to reopen at reduced capacity with special cleaning protocols. The road back to “normal” was long and filled with many obstacles but our Pure Barre community was strong and supportive, and I learned so much valuable skills during this challenging time.

Each class features musically driven choreography for a continuously fresh and effective full-body workout that improves strength, endurance, flexibility, coordination, and balance.

OUR CLASS FORMATS – Cross training is important for full-body strength, and rotating your exercise routine with various class formats provides physical and psychological benefits.

Do you any memories from childhood that you can share with us?
My favorite childhood memory is going to visit my grandparents in Northern Michigan for the summer. I spent a lot of time helping my grandfather water his vegetable garden, berry picking in the woods, and playing cards in the evening with my grandmother. I will cherish those memories forever.
