Hi Leah, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today.
My path to entrepreneurship has been a mix of passion, education, and seizing new opportunities. Following the completion of my Master’s in Social Work at Michigan State University, I embarked on a career assisting children and families in Grand Rapids, Michigan. This experience was highly fulfilling, enabling me to actively pursue my passion for helping others.

Life took a remarkable turn when my twin boys arrived, leading me to decide to take a break and spend time with them. Amid these changes, I discovered a way to express my creative flair for design. This passion grew as my husband and I built our home, turning it into more than just a project but a way to express my creativity and connect with a wider community. When I turned to social media, I shared our journey and engaged with an amazing community who also shared their experiences in construction, design, and decoration. This platform became a space for connection, inspiration, and mutual development.

Upon reentering the professional arena through collaborating with my husband in his business, I found myself immersed in the realms of marketing and recruitment. The new setting turned out to be both challenging and exciting. This venture not only honed my skills but also sparked a newfound passion for marketing. It was here that I recognized the power of social media marketing as a tool for connection and growth, laying the groundwork for what would become my venture, LB Marketing.

Fast forward to today, I’ve channeled my diverse experiences into LB Marketing, focusing on beauty brands, aesthetics, and med spas—a niche that resonates deeply with my long-standing interest in skincare and beauty. This specialization allows me to leverage my unique skills in social work, design, and marketing to help clients connect with their ideal customers and create vibrant online communities.

My journey underscores the belief that it’s never too late to pivot, learn new skills, and pursue your passions. It’s a testament to the idea that our varied experiences, even those that seem unrelated, can come together to guide us toward fulfilling careers and personal growth. Especially for female entrepreneurs, I am driven by the desire to support and navigate their business growth challenges, ensuring they have more time to focus on their lives and nurture client relationships.

Can you talk to us about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned? Looking back, would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
No, the road has not always been smooth, but then again, the path to fulfilling work and personal growth rarely is.

One of my greatest challenges has been managing my impatience for perfection and immediate success. I’ve always had high standards for my work and a clear vision of what I want to achieve, which sometimes clashed with the reality that good things take time to build and perfect.

This has taught me the lesson of patience and the importance of embracing the process. It’s in the day-to-day grind, the setbacks, and the slow progress that the real learning happens. It has shifted my perspective to value growth and development over instant results.

I’ve also had to find ways to manage the feeling of isolation that can come with entrepreneurship. Venturing out on your own, especially in the beginning, can feel daunting and lonely. But, I’ve learned the importance of community and mentorship through this process.

Connecting with others who are on the same path and seeking guidance from mentors who have had similar challenges has been a game-changer. These communities and relationships have provided practical advice, support, and a sense of belonging and encouragement during the toughest times.

LB Marketing is a boutique agency specializing in developing social media marketing strategies for beauty brands, aesthetics clinics, and Med Spas to help grow their business. There is a focus on enhancing their visibility on social media platforms, attracting new clients with Facebook and Instagram Ads, and fostering connections and engagement within their online community.

What sets LB Marketing apart is its niche focus. Concentrating on the beauty and aesthetics industry has allowed me to cultivate an understanding of the market, consumer behavior, and the unique challenges my clients face. This specialization enables me to create custom strategies that resonate with my clients’ target audiences and make their brands stand out in a crowded and competitive market.

I take pride in staying ahead of the curve with the latest trends, ensuring my clients’ brands achieve tangible results—whether it’s increased engagement, higher conversion rates, or enhanced brand visibility.

What matters most to me is creating a meaningful impact, connections, empowerment, and authenticity. As an entrepreneur, I understand the challenges firsthand. I have experienced the importance of having a great support system, the positive effects of engaging with your online audience, and its benefits personally and professionally.

I love the sense of community that comes from a collaborative approach. Creating spaces where people feel valued, heard, and connected is so important. This has been such a big part of my story, from building online communities around shared interests to creating a collaborative culture within LB Marketing.
