Today we’d like to introduce you to Jason DeLam.
Hi Jason, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I started punkbedfilms back in the summer of 2021. I was mainly inspired through watching online performances through the pandemic, but also inspired by watching hate5six videos with my cat at home. When I started, all I had was an iPhone and a tripod, and it would be like this for about a year until I upgraded to a Sony a6300 that I have since been using for all my concerts and whatnot. Since then, I have filmed hundreds of shows and music festivals, with some festivals such as PUG Fest in Ferndale and SWFest in Southwest Detroit I film year around.
This year I celebrate my 5 year anniversary of punkbed as I have recently moved office from Lincoln Park to Detroit and I plan on covering four festivals this year: Glizzy Fest, PUG Fest IV, Art Wraps 2026, and Midwest Spinkick Festival 2026.
My goal for the channel in about five years from now is to become exclusively a music festival videographer for multiple music festivals in the Metro Detroit area such as Movement Fest, Detroit Summer Festival, and the current festivals that I am covering with a couple of large non-festival concerts sprinkled in between.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
There’s been some bumps along the way. I’ve had to go off and on when it comes to filming concerts and releasing content due to things outside of filming, whether it be burnout from my main job, work on an music album that I have been in the works for over a year, moving into a new apartment downtown, or just work on a novel that I’ve just been writing in my free time. I also generally don’t get paid for the shows that I do, which is why I don’t film full time. But I would love to get more serious with PBF if I could make things work and balance time between my main job, PBF, and my other behind the scenes stuff (Life, album, novel, etc)
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
Punkbedfilms is a one-person videography business based in Detroit, Michigan (Formerly Metro Detroit). PBF specializes in live music/concert videography and photography. What sets me apart from other filmers is that I am open to filming any genre someone asks me to (Except Country). My previous work is SWFest in Detroit, Tied Down Detroit Fest in Detroit, and PUG Fest in Ferndale and Pontiac. I can also do photography outside of concerts, such as weddings and scenery photos. Some of which I have done in places such as the Dominican Republic. I’m mostly proud of the connections and networking that I have made through PBF that has stretched to other parts of the country and I look forward to working with my connections any time they come back here to Detroit for a concert.
I offer live video and photo work for concerts, music videos, weddings, and scenery. Feel free to email me at punkbedfilms@gmail.com or check out my website (https://punkbedfilms.square.site) for more information.
