Inspiring Conversations with Jacobi Williams of Jacobi Williams Medical Massage

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jacobi Williams.

Hi Jacobi , thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Before I started my massage therapy practice I was a professional dancer. In 2019 I had an unfortunate injury and my dance career came to an end. Following a long recovery process I was left feeling lost and directionless until my friend Allie suggested I check out the massage school they went to. A week later I was enrolled and beginning my massage journey. I’ve been an independent entrepreneur since I was 18 years old and nothing has changed, I met with Tony Jones; the owner of Elite Fitness North in Traverse City, summer of 2021 and rented a room from him to start building my clientele and I’ve been there ever since. I am now privileged to contribute to the health and wellbeing for the students of Interlochen arts Academy, The peninsula fire department, and many other independent businesses and organizations even making it to the world stage of being the massage therapist and canine massage therapist for the 2025 IFSS Worlds Dogsledding Championship tournament. My driving mission is to bring awareness and relief to the many occupational pains and injuries that people suffer as well as ways to prevent them.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
To start I began my education and massage practice during the peak of COVID lockdowns and restrictions, rocky doesn’t even begin to describe the conditions we had to learn and work under. Any healthcare worker will have numerous stories each more outlandish than the last .

In general entrepreneurship is not a linear path, along the way I had several failed programs, discontinued services, and broken relationships. Every set back was an opportunity to learn how to better myself as a businessman, therapist, and build a deeper sense of trust and confidence in myself.

As you know, we’re big fans of Jacobi Williams Medical Massage. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
In my Medical Massage practice I utilize a targeted, outcome-based approach to massage therapy focused on treating pain, injury, and dysfunction using clinical assessment and evidence-informed techniques.

At its core I am an educator first and a therapist second. My goal is not just to assess and treat the core causes of your pain and dysfunction, but to get you off the “perpetual wellness machine” and teach you what’s going on in your body and what are some attainable next steps to get you to where you don’t need me. “Science-based healthcare, for a life in motion.”

With my rich dance and sports background I use movement as medicine and help my patients understand the patterns in their lives that are causing them harm and the ones that can continue to heal them.

As far as what medical massage is able to help treat. Pain, loss of range of motion, TMJD, poor circulation, inflammation, and many other musculoskeletal disorders.

Additionally I offer Canine Massage and Canine Massage education for individuals wanting to better care for their pets and working dogs.

Are there any important lessons you’ve learned that you can share with us?
